Introduction: What students will be learning: * Vocal technique - ear training and expanding vocal range * Creating active stage presence * Speech - articulation and projection * Using stage direction and blocking * Using emotional memory as a tool * Dance training * Examining character motivation * Taking creative risks Mixed Age Groups The classes we offer are mixed age groups (ages 5-16). We have found during our experience that when children are taken out of their exclusive peer group they often thrive and make huge creative leaps. This is why; when a younger child of seven or eight is around children a little older than she, she is far less likely to be caught up in the chaotic energy that often comes with exclusive groups of young children. Rather, she is more likely to be interested in what the older students are doing and wanting to model them. The same goes for our older students who are often likely to be caught up in the social model of what it is to look and act "cool". This can sometimes become a huge obstacle in their ability to let go, improvise and really enter a character. When the age group is mixed there is a far less likelihood of this happening. The older students will often take on a mentoring role with many of the younger students and thus the group dynamic becomes balanced and thrives! Internships: We provide internships for students ages 16 and up who are interested in teaching and are dedicated to the performing arts. These are unpaid apprenticeships and require a full session commitment. Intern focuses could include dance, acting, music, and stage management. Interviews are required. Kreative Kidz classes are fun, high-energy programs that allow young people to fully captivate their imaginations as they experience the fun of creating live theater from learning the fundamental techniques of acting for the stage, to developing improvisation and physical comedy abilities, to bringing it all together in a public performance. Students participate in a wide variety of theater activities including improvisation, scene study, storytelling, creative writing, and group singing; all are taught by caring teachers dedicated to meeting each child at his or her level. Classes emphasize drama games and exercises designed to increase spontaneity, engage the imagination, promote self confidence, and encourage ensemble spirit. No prior drama experience is required.
