About
I bring both a classical artistic vision and a friendly, personable style to all my projects. I've created terrific images under high stress circumstances (high profile VIP subjects with little time or patience) and I've teased great shots out of remarkably lackluster locations. Being a photographer, especially a location photographer, requires solving a multitude of problems on a daily basis. I love going into a new situation and having to find the best solution for the combination of variables that present themselves. What will make a dramatic but not distracting background for this portrait? How can I add lighting to improve an image without making my lighting apparent in the final product? The choices are critical to the finished product yet should seem transparent to the client, the subject, and the viewer.

We are a company in the Financial District in Boston. I hired Richard to take head shots of 20 employees for our new corporate website redesign that is currently in production. From job proposal/job quote to final image delivery, Richard was wonderful to work with and I would hire him again in a heartbeat. He was very flexible and accommodating with his schedule and has a very fast turnaround time with the images. He is very professional and you can tell that he has a lot of experience because he really knew how to make people comfortable in front of the camera. Everyone enjoyed working with him and thought he did a great job. I was very pleased with the resulting photos, they are going to look great on our website. On top of all this, I found him to be very reasonably priced. Hiring Richard is a smart move for anyone. I hope we get to work together again in the future!

This experience was a pleasure from start to finish. Richard was professional, friendly, informative and extremely competent. His photographs were just what I was hoping they would be and beyond, and the photo shoot was both interesting and fun. I highly recommend him and his work to anyone wanting pictures that convey their personality.

I would recommend working with Richard 1000%! We interviewed half a dozen candidates for our project and selected Richard for the job. I work for a preschool in the suburbs of Boston and tasked Richard with photographing classrooms full of energetic (or alternatively crying) toddlers and preschoolers. Richard was warm and engaging, and also knew how to disappear in these chaotic rooms to get the best shots. He was flexible and able to seamlessly change direction to accommodate new ideas on the fly. I should also add that the photos are outstanding. He really captured the whimsical spirit of our school.

Corporate Headshots

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

My recent work has been predominantly in two areas: corporate portraits on location (typically for both web and print usage) and in high-value residential real estate. As websites have become the most important client-facing marketing media for virtually all companies, the need for quality imagery has skyrocketed.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Price is often the deciding factor for consumers of any product or service...I myself often make decisions that way. But with skill-based services, price should only be a consideration, not a determinant. With photography, past performance is a very strong indicator of future results, and that past performance is really what sets the value of the service.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Technology has changed the landscape of professional photography radically over the course of my career, lowering the technical barriers dramatically. But that is the least important asset a professional should bring to your project. Discerning, creative vision, an educated awareness of color, light, and perspective, people-skills, and a keen understanding of the implications of multiple media platforms are the criteria by which a photographer should to be judged.
