About
I specialize in home with children and dogs going through adolescence. Training your dog at your home reduces the distractions during the training process resulting in quicker learning. I like working with people and helping them to solve the problems their dogs have. Seeing a dog improve and watching as the people begin to really enjoy their pets is very gratifying.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

In order to maintain my qualifications as a Certified Professional Dog Trainer I attend seminars, conferences and continuing education courses hosted by several professional organizaitons. I am also an avid reader and find all things training related fascinating, I read on average 2 books every month to stay fresh and further my understanding of dog behavior and learning theory.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Do your homework, make sure the person you hire is qualified. Visit APDT.com or CCPDT.org for a listing of professional dog trainers and those that have been tested for their knowledge of learning theory, animal husbandry and training techniques.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

There are no licensing requirements for dog trainers, and few barriers to entry. Look for people who have gone through a formal educational program or those who have been certified by independent organizations like the CCPDT. A good place to look for a qualified dog trainer is one of the dog training professional organization like the APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) at APDT.com.
