About
Teaching is both my passion and privilege. I specialize in contemporary piano and voice performance, songwriting, and music production, and I’ve worked with students of all ages and levels for over 15 years at Vibe Music Lab. My number one goal with students is to foster a creative, supportive, and collaborative environment. Lessons can be explorative, structured, soothing, a fun challenge, or all of the above. Whether you are new to music or are looking to improve your skills, I will provide resources and guidance for how to best accomplish your goals. I studied music composition and performance at Berklee College of Music and Boston University (Psychology B.A., 2012) and am a member of MTNA. In addition to teaching, I am an independent artist and producer based in Boston, MA. I have written, produced, and performed on a number of EPs, singles, and full-length albums. I’ve also toured with bands and as a solo artist across the US and internationally, and regularly perform in New England. What can we explore? I have been taking piano with Josh for about 8 months now. I had another teacher prior to him, but I am so glad I switched, Josh is simply the best! He is patient, encouraging and really knows what he's doing. I love that he really listens and took the time to get to know me so that he could teach to my learning style. I was drawn to him because I was interested in getting a formal training all while learning popular music and having fun. He took my interests and ran with them so now I am mastering movie scores and hip hop songs while at the same time learning scales, musical notation and other parts of music theory. I would highly recommend Josh to anyone who wants to learn piano with a caring, enthusiastic, and awesome teacher!

I've been taking piano lessons with Josh for about one year now and I've seen enormous improvement in my playing. Josh is so thoughtful with his instruction methods and technique, it makes lessons with him feel so personal and customized. Like everything is designed for me and my own personal improvement. Taking lessons with Josh also makes me want to practice more than I've wanted to for any other teacher. It's because Josh is so invested in all of his students and really wants to see them grow and improve. That totally has a positive affect. Plus, he's so cool! We learn fun songs and really work hard all while hanging in a chill environment. With Josh the goal is learning and satisfaction. I promise you that if you take piano or voice lessons with Josh you won't be sorry. You'll actually be better for it.

Three Reasons to take lessons from Josh: 1. He's a musical genius. Seriously, the man knows his stuff. 2. Hes a fabulous teacher. Whatever your learning style, learning preference, difficulties, etc. he has an approach that will help make you into a better musician and performer. He wants to teach you WHATEVER it is you want to learn about music and performance, not just the basics-he wants to find out how music engages you personally, which is a rare and really cool thing. 3. He works at your pace. you can work on improving your skills as slow (or as fast) as you want. Basically, Josh is a wonderful teacher with a wealth of technical skill and talent in addition to a great deal of compassion and patience making him everything a person could really ask for in a teacher. I recommend him whole heartedly!

I highly recommend taking lessons with Josh. As a young professional who always had an interest in music but never pursued it, I found Josh to be the perfect teacher. He got to know me and found out what my personal musical goals were. Then he adapted lessons to fit both my (beginner) skill level and my taste in music. He has a wealth of knowledge and can incorporate theory into the lessons to whatever detail you may desire which I personally enjoyed. He also was very adept at recognizing where I was having trouble and helping me work through those areas. I found his own musical talent to be extremely inspiring and even attended some of his concerts. His skill and dedication to music definitely helps him in being the effective teacher that he is. The environment of his lessons is relaxed and comfortable and he was always available to contact and willing to help if I had questions between lessons. If you're looking for a piano teacher, look no further. Josh is the best.

I was a complete beginner when I started taking lessons with Josh, I had always wanted to learn how to play piano but was skeptical I could actually do it well. From the first few minutes of my very first lesson with Josh he totally put my mind at ease and gave me the confidence I needed. His lessons are catered to my skill level while also encouraging me to improve and push myself in my playing and knowledge. Josh is insanely talented and has so much knowledge to share. He is an amazing teacher who wants to help his students reach their personal goals. If you're a beginner or an established player who wants to hone your skills, I highly recommend Josh!
