I believe in honesty and integrity and continue with the upmost cleanliness during procedures of sweeps. All sweeps are put under negative pressure using HEPA filtration. All work areas are protected with drop cloths and all walkable areas to minimize any debris droppings. Mj sweeps was very polite and knowledgeable .impeccably clean. He swept out and inspected our fireplace and heating system. Use drop cloths at work area and any walkable surfaces that he use to enter and exit the home. He put everything under negative pressure with HEPA filtration.. He also did a complete written inspection report of the interior and exterior chimney. Using a drone and a GoPro camera system for the interior flus . He also advised me that I do not necessarily need a Sweep every year. It all depends on how many times I’ve used the fireplace. He referenced it as like using your car went to change the oil the more you use it the sooner you need to change the oil lol Mike’s a great guy I’ve been using him for years. He also noted that on oil burner furnaces you should only sweep them between every 5 to 10 years. Always pending on how well/old the furnace is and how well it’s firing.. again great guy great company. Will continue to use them throughout the future.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My price is a competitive, but I do give discounts to cash payments. My sweeps run from $230-$250 all sweeps come with a complete written inspection report of the interior and exterior chimney. Even the ones that aren’t being swept. I checked them out for safety reasons. I make sure that you have all your carbon monoxide tests are working.. I do not fool around with such projects as some people do as jokes.. for some reason, they should be a standard for this as far as licensing and I just don’t understand why there isn’t. I do have an OSHA 40 I also have a home improvement contractor license I do not understand why people do not have these things on hand they are needed because unfortunately, you are dealing with a barrier chimney that is tied within your home. And if not tested correctly and there is a breach, you could be breathing in very harmful fumes and half these people don’t even know how to find a breach in a system or even how a chimney is actually performed or how it works. Unfortunately this stupidity out there please do your diligence before making a decision with people.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First and foremost, I would like to get to know the type of person homeowner I’m dealing with . I would like to find out what is their main goal in resolving or up creating the chimney. To me, the stupidest question is the one not asked . I am full of information from top to bottom. It does not bother me one bit to ask me 1 million questions about anything and I will tell you the honest to God‘s truth . I’ve seen people steal. Lie cheat in this industry, and it’s absolutely sickening . And honestly have these people have no idea what they’re doing which I’m sorry to say. I can honestly say most of my competitors hate me because I tell the honest to God‘s truth . I’m not gonna sell you something you don’t need and I will help you out to the best of my knowledge .Osp
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Well I am CSIA CERTIFIED the state of Indiana back in 1999 which I have held my CSIA standing in good order. I am also have a NORA CERTIFICATION FOR OIL BURNER TECH. Which I thought it was a smart move on my end to know what I was connecting to knowing the BTUs/what type of oil furnace how was dealing with. People forget you’re dealing with people’s lives, which is very important not always a liability, but you’re dealing with someone’s loved one/family member. I am also a local 3 Bricklayer out of Charlestown. I can build chimneys from top to bottom.. and to be honest with you, there’s nothing I have not seen regarding chimneys. And the funny thing is, you don’t need a license to do sweeps or inspections which I am a certified Massachusetts inspector. I work with the change of hands of real estate and house.
