About
I have been an internationally touring guitarist and drummer for over ten years. In that time, I've played well over 1,000 shows and bring this experience to my students. I play most styles, both acoustic and electric, but have a particular focus on finger-style guitar. I am a very personalized teacher. I approach students as individuals and craft my lesson plans based on what excites them about music. I particularly enjoy seeing people reach their goals. Whether it be a performing a new song, or getting a scale under their fingers, watching my students progress is very gratifying.

I really like Zak's teaching style. He's very easy-going and patient, and has an encyclopedic knowledge of music theory and guitar. Playing music is something that brings him joy, and that feeling that playing guitar is an awesome, joyful thing clearly comes across in his lessons.

Zak is a great teacher! He senses what the needs are and obstacles to progress and offers strategies to overcome them. He balances theory and technique with more instinctive playing. He can teach many genres.

Zak is an amazing teacher! He was super friendly and professional, and he really catered his lessons to what I wanted to learn. I had very little experience with the guitar, but he was able to teach me a lot of skills in a short amount of time! I highly recommend him to any beginner like myself (although I am sure he is just as incredible with pros!) who wants to learn a lot in a welcoming and fun environment!

Details: 18 - 25 years old • No formal training • No, cannot read music • Acoustic • What the teacher recommends • Folk • Country • Yes, the student has an instrument • 30 minutes • My home, venue, etc.
