Introduction: My work stands out because my portrait sessions are not typical, formal sittings. My clients and I have fun during the hour we spend together, and most of the images captured are candid/ documentary or photojournalistic style. I really try to capture personalities of each individual, and freeze those precious moments. My obsession is being creative- it excites and challenges me. I strive to create the best images every session. My goal is to visually portray how a family, bride, groom, or engaged couple felt that day- that moment. It's literally magic that a single photograph can bring back memories, emotions- it can change your mood completely. I do photography because I want you to forever be taken back to a place of love and joy.

Lydia has an extraordinary way of seeing the world. When we were hiring a photographer for our wedding, we saw a portfolio she had of safari and wildlife shoots . . . and we were completely mesmerized by the startling contexts and angles she created, as well as uncommon ways she played with light. We instantly knew we'd found our photographer. Ours was an unusual wedding in a tropical backyard setting, with a very small group that included almost as many dogs as people. We were not interested in the conventional series of posed photos, and we needed someone who could very actively capture all the moments without being intrusive. Lydia excelled at this as well -- she is incredibly personable and laid-back, and, at the same time, highly professional. She naturally carries a familiar, down-to-earth vibe with her, and put us instantly at ease -- she felt as much like one of the guests as a photographer. And she completely captured the atmosphere of the event with the same candid clarity we had seen in her other photos; her work surpassed our greatest expectations. She created some of the most eclectic wedding photos I have ever seen, along with some more traditional shots -- I simply cannot say enough about what a pleasure she was to work with. Perhaps the greatest testimonial that I can provide to the distinguished quality of her work is this: at each and every wedding anniversary since (for five years now) I have returned to Lydia for assistance in converting one or more of her wedding photos into the form of the traditional medium for that anniversary. She advises closely at every step of the creation . . . and she never ceases to astound me with her talent for discerning the precisely perfect gift and the way to personalize it with images of our special day.

After scouring the internet for local wedding photographers, I finally found Lydia using Thumbtack. I liked her candid style, and her budget friendly rates right away. After a casual meeting at Starbucks, I felt that her laid back personality and artistic eye was exactly what I was looking for. I'm not having a cookie-cutter wedding, and I was hoping to find a photographer that would have more of an edge and passion for story telling through their work. This is exactly what I found in Lydia. Although we had some miscommunication with the location of our engagement shoot, once we got started we were put right at ease. Her work and editing was incredible and exactly what were were hoping for. Lydia has helped my family capture many precious moments from our girl's first birthday to my pregnancy with our son and his newborn shots. FAQs

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm constantly reading about photography online- lighting, composition, techniques, editing, etc. I really love to learn, and I love to try new things. Occasionally, I attend seminars and workshops.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I took my first black & white photography class in 1998 because my sister was doing photography at the time. Having been involved with art since a very early age, photography was another medium to express my creativity.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with families, engaged couples, and newborns. I also do boudoir photography.
