I am a passionate and caring piano teacher, who prioritizes passing on the joy of music and my student's development as an all-around musician in my lessons. I studied classical piano performance at the Manhattan School of Music and Boston University, and I have 17 years of teaching experience in multiple genres and topics, including classical piano, music theory, harmony, and ear training. I enjoy teaching children, as well as young and older adults.

I came to Tess with zero experience of piano, just some young dream I still had at the age of 24. I have always wanted to learn to play and read the music, until I meet Tess I thought it is very impossible thing to do! She was extremely nice, patience , made it very fun to learn
I am forever thankful for her time to teach. ❤

After searching and searching for the right piano teacher we finally found Tess, and my son, now age 14, has been taking lessons from her for about 2 years. He is a talented musician who wasn't into following a strict, classical path; prior teachers who worked that way and put on a lot of pressure were just not a good fit, and in fact they made him not want to play at all. Tess, on the other hand, met him where he was and the difference was clear right away. She is always willing to work with the music he is personally interested in while still emphasizing technique and theory. She is also very emotionally supportive while also prodding him a bit when he needs to be prodded. Music is central to my son's identity and Tess has helped him blossom so much. She is all about the love of music and he always comes out of his lessons happy and smiling. We love Tess! She is a gem.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing is based off experience level
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing piano for 27 years, and teaching for 17 years. I studied at Manhattan School of Music and Boston University's College of Fine Arts.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
My first student was my high school janitor's young son, who heard my choir teacher playing piano, and asked him for lessons. He was too busy to take on another student, but passed him on to me. Thats how my passion for teaching was discovered and the magic all began!
