First of all, when they give you a quote and agree not only to cut down your tree and haul it away, they have to actually do it completely. That is not what happened to me. In my case, they came to my house told me how much it would cost to cut down my tree and haul it away but when they arrived, they asked for a $200 deposit before they started the job, and after cutting less than half of my tree, knocked at my door saying they would come back another day to finish the job. In the meantime I had no idea that the dumped nearly all the branches they did cut in the woods behind my house. At least when I texted they did come back and remove some of what they dumped there because my neighbors started complaint and I had to text a couple of times asking them to please come back ASAP to remove what they dumped on my neighbors wooded lots. They do not have the right equipment to remove trees. Nor do they have the experience. Before you hire someone, please ask them if they have all tools needed to remove and haul away a tree and never pay them a deposit before the work is done because I went on their word and was ripped off. They say they worked a lot for their $200 and even wanted me to give them $100 more since they were not coming to cut down the rest of the tree, and I say for what, “hauling back and forth all that you duped in the woods on my neighbors property?!” I am speechless! These type of people should not be able to get jobs anywhere. Thumbtack should be weiry of who they actually let on to their website because we hire people though you guys thinking it is safe when in reality it sometimes feels like we are getting scammed not only by who we hire off of thumbtack, but actually Thumbtack themselves. I would also like to add that there is no way that the kid doing the actual cutting of the trees has been in business like their add says for 20 years because he is a young kid. Maybe his dad that does the smooth talking for him is a gardener for that amount of years but that is about it.
