Introduction: *Fully vaccinated against Covid-19* Whether you’re working on a commercial project, a music video, or an independent film, you want your audience to feel something; and creating emotions through color, contrast, pacing, and style requires understanding not just codecs and color spaces, but people and audiences of all stripes. I bring my experience in writing, political campaigning, and marketing, as well as my broad filmmaking skillset to bear on all of my post-production work—where “storytelling” is a sensibility, not a buzzword.

Video Editing

Daniel is extremely professional and detailed oriented. He recorded videos for my aerial performance and my thesis presentation for my MFA thesis program. Needless to say it was a very demanding job that required a lot of editing an awareness of what the requirements for the school wo Daniel. went above and beyond to deliver extremely high quality videos and work with me all the way to make sure things were up the the school’s high standards. I highly recommend him for any project. And I will be hiring hopefully soon for new venues and experimentation with a art and media.

I am a man with a very particular vision for what I want and how I want things done and with Daniel I did get that. Above and beyond in terms of equipment and preparedness. From reflecting panels to excel documents listing out each scene. The technicals were there, and I don't think anyone would be disappointed in that regard. I got my money's worth with my time with Daniel and then some. Staying outside in the bitter cold late at night, take after take, putting up with me wanting one more and then wanting another one. I felt in control of my vision and that is so important to me, I was the driver that got a great vehicle to navigate the ideas verse's the practicality of the ideas. I have very little to no complaints personally, but I also attribute that to me knowing exactly what I want and getting it. Editing the video mostly myself, and him touching it up with a great effort along side the back and forth creative process that should be expected in this type of collaboration. In terms of people that don't really know what they want or maybe they just want something filmed and look to someone else to think of amazing artsy ideas. Maybe Daniel is not for you. Again amazing vehicle, but I don't entirely know if you just want to hand the keys over. There was no deliberation of his own ideas of what he thought the video should be. Yes, I did have a particular vision, and yes I prefer this personally, but it would be nice to hear, even if those ideas never makes light of day, concrete line for line original ideas. He does give criticism sometimes on performances, but there is no power or enthusiasm from him to do a better job in those performances. Now I speak as a person with a very high charisma, but for someone who doesn't have a self amped state I can see takes becoming difficult. Sure if you are just talking to a camera you would be fine I guess, but if you need to perform with a level outside your normal self it is hard to find inspiration in Daniel, rather one must rely on themselves to get to that mentality. And I think Daniel would greatly improve in his work to be behind the camera and to know where the energy needs to be, inspire a performer, and then have another take. I feel like, if I wrote down along with the scene how my facial expressions should be he would try to accomplish what I wrote, but I also feel like I shouldn't need to do that. But that's about it. I know the criticism paragraph is longer than the positive paragraph but I only do that because I actually think Daniel is a good investment and I would definitely ask him to film another music video. And maybe the next one will be even better than the last. I have high hopes for him and I actually give a shit about the craft on all ends. Working with him has been a rewarding experience.

We hired Daniel for our wedding videographer. From start to finish he was professional and responsive. On the day of the wedding he was quickly getting beautiful footage of our surroundings to ensure a memorable video. The finished 5 minute highlight video was stunning. Daniel captured all of our special moments. We will forever cherish this video and his work.

Video Editing

Daniel was responsive, positive, and an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the video editing project I hired him for. I outlined a basic idea of what I wanted to do for a video, gave him one example, and he ran with it in the best way! He really understood what I was looking for, and took my vision and added his own talent for storytelling to the project. He was professional and upfront about how long it would take and delivered exactly what I needed. I'm so pleased with the result. Daniel is a real pro. Thank you so much!

Daniel was beyond excellent to work with. Not only was he willing to remain flexible as changes in schedule emerged, but the video work he was able to produce looked and sounded spectacular. Hoping to work with Daniel again in the near future.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

A 50% booking fee is required to hold the dates for any filming or editing work. The hourly rates listed on my profile are a rough estimate; videography typically costs a bit more per hour, especially if it entails travel, and video editing typically costs less per hour. Because there are so many factors at play, I prefer to agree on a flat rate on a per-project basis to avoid any confusion.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I received a certificate in Screenwriting from the UCLA School of TFT Professional Program. I've taken film, screenwriting, and film production courses at the college level at Vassar College, Columbia University, and Bennington College. I'm also a Blackmagic Design Certified Colorist in DaVinci Resolve, Hollywood's premier color grading application.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started out as a narrative filmmaker and screenwriter, having studied literature and screenwriting and made some award-winning short films. I saw how many of my filmmaking friends were enjoying their work for freelance clients and decided to give it a try myself. I love being able to use those same storytelling skills in a way that gets more immediate and tangible results than one would normally see in the narrative filmmaking world.
