We hosted our Family Reunion in July of 2018 & wanted it to be catered, Our group would be 40 people. We did an extensive search & several interviews, some of whom were not very responsive, most refused to do a party of only 40. When we reached out to John at J & L Catering, he was very responsive & excited to help us with our small gathering, which would be held in our garden. His menu option were many & outstanding, yet he was more than willing to make any changes & adjustments we wanted. So, we added his fabulous Raw Bar & his Famous (most delicious) Chowder to one of his barbecue menus & never looked back! John was a joy to work with, responsive to all of our questions, helpful with all our little detail,right down to the decor theme. Our Reunion was a huge success. John & his staff were superb. We used J&L catering for our wedding on 7.21.18. They were wonderful! Our guest raved about the quality of the food. The whole team was professional and provided amazing service. John was great to work with from the start. He was professional at all times, responsive and his passion for cooking shows in all he does. John was amazing; he was responsive from our first informational phone call until the last box was packed and the last bag of trash hauled away. The food was outstanding; a lot of it and delicious. Presentation was beautiful, and the team he brought with him was equally terrific. It was nice to be able to mingle with my guests versus worrying about getting everyone fed. John was excellent to work with! Even though we had unusual restrictions from our wedding venue, John designed and delivered a perfect menu! His food is delicious and his advice is honest and invaluable. We also had a few vegan guests at our wedding, and John took the challenge in stride. We had rave reviews about the food. - What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?Try to have an idea of what you are looking for before you contact a vendor (or, know what you are not looking for, which is equally important). Calling a caterer and asking, "How much does it cost to cater an event for 100 guests" is like asking, "How much does a car cost (is it a Ford or a Rolls Royce)?". There are so many variables that go into pricing - number of guests, type of food (i.e., burgers vs. lobsters, casual brunch vs. upscale, plated dinner with a cocktail hour), china vs. disposable, rentals, cocktail hours, etc., that pricing can change when any variable does. Be open to suggestions and be sure to tell the vendor what you are definitely looking for. We are so happy to help you - but we can only guess so much!
