Julie is a fantastic instructor who takes the time to teach you right. She never pushes you beyond your current ability (unless you are capable and just need some encouragement!) and has infinite patience for you and your horse. She is great with children and makes lessons fun for both children and adults. Whether it is a group lesson or a private lesson she is able to give you the best instruction regardless of how many people are in the ring. Lessons are never boring and she takes the time to show you how to do unmounted activities to care for horses. If you want to learn how to ride right and have fun at the same time Julie is for you! Whether you want to show or just have fun you can't go wrong at Providence Riding Academy!!!

There are many skills & attributes I look for in a riding instructor: good communication skills, patience, a sense of humor, knowledge & personal experience in a variety of disciplines, a willingness to listen and someone who "gets" both horses AND humans. Julie's the total package. She is thoroughly professional but has a great sense of fun. She can be the ultimate dressage instructor, but help you with obstacles/versatility skills or jumping as well. She works on helping you know your horse and yourself then applying that knowledge to whatever the riding challenge is.
I really like that she schools her horses regularly herself. She puts time in with her students and her horses -- and she's always looking to continue to learn. I admire an instructor (in anything!) who has a passion for learning & understands that they don't know it all. Plus, although Julie makes you work, she encourages you to participate in fun things as well ( including Gymkhanas for kids & adults, the versatility challenges I mentioned & non-mounted get-togethers as well).
I'd encourage anyone to work with Julie in a heartbeat!

I have known Julie for about 5 years at least. She is very professional and does a great job starting both horses and new riders young and old! I am also a trainer and we both were working in the same barn, her doing Dressage and Eventing and me Hunter Jumper and often would teach for each other. Both our clients enjoyed the time learning new things as did the horses. I now run a horse rescue in addition to sales and teaching in MI where I met Julie originally, Sandstonefarm.info
