She is one of the country's first and premier Western Dressage instructors, traveling extensively to promote and spread the word about this wonderful new discipline.
In addition, her students have had many national successes in the hunter/jumper world over the years, including 4th at the USEF Medal Finals in Harrisburg PA, Top 20 at USEF Talent Search at Gladstone, NJ and many others.

I started working with Cathy a year ago, when a group of friends needed someone to fill in a lesson spot. I was mainly interested in riding my Canadian mare, MaeMae, as she is the one who responds well to lessons. After one lesson, I realized that my Canadian gelding, Dudley, who historically has hated ring work and being asked to do anything that is not his idea, would like Cathy's style. So I started lessons on both the following week. It has been a wonderful journey. I rode as a child, but hadn't had lessons since then. I needed help with my own riding as well as with asking my horses to do things. Cathy has an endless supply of expertise, yet she can discern in the first few minutes of a lesson what a horse needs and what the rider needs. She breaks things down into manageable chunks for my horses and I, yet challenges and pushes us at the same time. I have learned so much over the past year and look forward to learning so much more. Dudley -- the reticent one-- won two blue ribbons in his first dressage show this weekend. Two for two. Thanks to Cathy's instruction.

I am an adult western rider. I ride everyday and am very committed to improving my riding. While I certainly do not pretend to be an expert horseman, as retired professor I do have expertise in what constitutes quality instruction. Cathy Drum is an excellent instructor. She is clear, coherent, organized and quite specific in her instruction and her feedback to the rider. Her approach is couched with a positive framework. After each lesson, I feel I have learned something important, improved my riding that much more and look forward to implementing that lesson's objectives throughout the week. Her focus is on equestrianship (western or Engllsh). She is on time in her lessons, focused on the rider and her corrective feedback is clear and positive. If I could afford it, I would do 2 lessons a week. I highly recommend her as a riding instructor.

Cathy Drumm is an amazing instructor. As a novice rider I have appreciated her positivity, patience, creativity and effective communication. She is always cognizant of the rider and horse abilities but challenges you to push your limits. She was one of the first to jump on board with Western Dressage and has embraced the discipline as a way to strengthen the horse physically and enhance the horse/rider relationship. I highly recommend her services.

Cathy has been working with me and both of my horses for 3yrs now. She is extremely knowledgeable and an amazing instructor. She is able to explain something several different ways, until my horses and myself truly understand what she is conveying. She certainly goes above and beyond!

It's been years since I've connected with a instructor , Cathy is down to earth, encouraging and has a sense of humor! To anyone looking for a great teacher that knows her stuff, gets results and isn't afraid to laugh call Cathy!
