About
Real Progress. Every Week. Structured guitar training for kids, teens, and adults. Located in Reading, MA, we work with students from Wakefield, Melrose, Stoneham, Woburn, Wilmington, and other nearby towns. A Better Way To Learn Guitar. Most people don’t quit guitar because it’s too hard. They quit because they feel stuck. • No clear plan • No idea what to practice • Progress that comes and goes We fix that. Our program is built around a clear system, so you: • Know exactly what you're working on • Build real skills each week • Actually feel yourself improving Why This Works (When Others Don’t) Most guitar lessons: • Jump around with no clear plan • Move too fast or too slow • Leave you guessing what to practice Our approach: • Gives you a clear system • Builds skills step-by-step • Keeps you progressing every week Real Progress Every Week. This isn’t random lessons. Every session is designed to help you: • Improve your timing and coordination • Understand what you’re playing • Build confidence on the instrument You won’t just play more. You’ll actually feel yourself getting better. Find Your Starting Point • Kids (Grades 2–5) Build confidence, focus, and coordination in a fun, structured environment. • Teens & Adults (Beginners) Start from scratch with a clear system that actually makes sense. • Intermediate Players Break through plateaus and finally start improving again. Learn guitar your way Electric, acoustic, or bass — We’ll meet you where you are and build from there. Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or coming back after years away, you’ll follow a clear path forward. Stuck On Guitar? This Is Where That Changes If you’ve tried learning before, you might recognize this: • You start strong… then lose momentum • You learn a few things, but nothing sticks • You’re not sure what to practice next That’s not a motivation problem. That’s a system problem. We give you the structure so you can keep moving forward. How It Works • Book your free intro session • Come in, meet us, and try it out • Get placed into the right session and get started That’s it.

As a first time guitar student I have had a very positive experience at RSG- the staff are all very helpful and scheduling is really easy! Someone is always available if you call and they are also very responsive with email. This is a great place to start your guitar journey!

RSG is an awesome place for guitar players of all ages and abilities. Facilities are spacious with multiple rooms and studios. Classes and instructors are amazing. I made so much progress with my playing and developed a much better understanding of the instrument and music. I even got to play with an adult band. 5 Stars! !Rock on, RSG!

For years Ive studied guitar and music on my own or with a dedicated teacher only to quickly lose focus and fizzle out.As an adult student, I needed something more than working my way through a lesson book in a tiny room getting quizzed each week for 30 minutes. The difference with RSG is the group lesson format that provides a fun, no pressure, motivational environment to play and learn at the same time. The school has three great teachers that work well together and seamlessly trade off classes, providing different viewpoints while remaining focused on a cohesive learning plan.I currently take two classes. The Core Skills class provides a solid base focused on many areas including chords, tab, scales, songs, ear training, and technique. The Improv class provides a more in depth focus on theory and learning how to move around the neck with a focus on soloing.I can honestly say that I have studied guitar for years, but its only since Ive joined RSG that Im learning to put it all together and am just having so much fun learning and playing!

I had my first intro lesson with Jon and it was fantastic! I was able to portray an issue I was having and Jon knew exactly the fix and taught me so much in just 30 minutes. Very excited to get into the weekly lessons and I’m sure he will help take my guitar playing to a new level! Highly recommend.

I would recommend Reading School of Guitar to anyone! My 7-year-old recently started taking classes and loved it. The owner is very responsive and accommodating and does a great job supporting the young kids. The building is also beautiful.
