FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are $65/hr $50/45 minutes and $35/30 minutes. Weekday recording is $80/hr unless we go over $3200 in any 12 month period in which case it drops to $75. An additional referral discount is also available to these clients. Additional charges apply if we hire in an assistant engineer ($50/hr) or I play both engineer AND keyboardist for a project. ($125/hr) Weekend rates are $100/hr or $150 for dual roles. I have been known to barter with exceptional talent for your tracking on my own recordings.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I coach them to get the best performance. I record them to get the best sound. I edit the recording to make it accessible to their audience. I put it into a form to get it out to the wider world. I support them in the crucible of the creative process. I applaud their efforts all the way through.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was trained in music technology at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music as well as studying Physics there on a National Merit Scholarship. These days, I have to be a Physicist just to keep up with the technological developments! I read the trade journals, talk to other engineers and musicians, and subscribe to a few on-line training sites.
