Every Year I attend the light construction conference in Providence RI for 3-5 days. I attend numerous seminars while there on just about every subject you can think about from safety issues & lead paint rules to new product introductions and building code reviews. This is just one way we keep up with all the changing trends in the building trades
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I'v always had building things in my blood. When I was in first grade they were building new homes all around my neighborhood & I was always watching the workmen. Whenever I got a chance I would take scraps from the trash piles and build things with whatever i could scavenge. Years later, I was always building tree houses in my back yard & when they were done, I would tear it down and build a better one in its place. Once i even built one that was 3 stories tall!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Always check for proper license & insurance. Don't be afraid to ask for and check out refrences. Talk with the people that will be doing the work on your home & make sure you are comfortable with them, they will be interacting with you and your family for the full duration of your project.
