Face The Music Recording Studio

Face The Music Recording Studio is a fully equipped, custom-built professional recording studio located in the town of Shutesbury in the Pioneer Valley of Central/Western Massachusetts. It has been in operation since 2004. In 2013, the studio moved to a beautiful new location in an 860-square-foot building. The studio features two main recording rooms and three additional smaller rooms. All of the rooms are interconnected with audio and video cables. The video cables used in conjunction with webcams and monitors provide video communication between rooms. Proper acoustic treatments (bass traps, ceiling clouds, diffusors, and first reflection absorbers) have been applied to each room. All of the rooms are decoupled from each other for maximum isolation. The software used is Digital Performer 8 running on a Mac Pro desktop (64-bit) with 16 GB RAM. The studio has a huge library (over 1200) and audio plug-ins (reverb, compression, EQ, etc.), including over 150 waves plug-ins. The rate is $45 an hour. Block booking half days or full days is not required. In other words, there is no minimum number of hours that need to be booked. We record live performances as well. The owner/engineer, Brian Bender, is an accomplished, internationally acclaimed musician (keyboards, trombone, trumpet, tuba, melodica, percussion, and vocals) with 25-plus years of experience performing in a wide variety of genres — jazz, funk, afrobeat, reggae, folk, klezmer, Celtic, samba, calypso, dixieland, blues, etc. If desired, Brian can add instrumental tracks to your recording for no additional charge (beyond the regular studio rate of $45 an hour). Keyboards and/or horn section anyone? Other studios often charge extra for this service. We can provide session musicians on any instrument for practically any genre of music. The session musicians' fees will vary from player to player. Parking is plentiful and free. The studio is located in scenic Shutesbury, MA right near Lake Wyola. There are beautiful hiking trails nearby. The scenic, wooded location is perfect for taking a break and getting some fresh air. The Leverett Village Coop market is located about 5 minutes away by car.
