I'm asked almost all the time , "Who will be doing the actual work for us ?" Often a client looking to have work done will meet with a representative of the company, but as work commences, they'll have to deal with a strange and unsupervised crew. I love to walk around and see and feel the final effect of a newly finished space. That reward part only comes at the end, and then I'm out the door ! Also meeting new and interesting clients. We often form a great professional relationship, and a few have continued to call on me for years - It's not unusual for me to paint over a finish I rolled on for them when their now College student was in Grade school !

Peter is a master at his craft. Not only is his work meticulous, Peter also has a fine eye for design and aesthetics. His suggestions for paint treatments of the stringers and round bars made our staircase a focal point and highlight of our home. I recommend Peter unreservedly.

My kitchen has been transformed to a much brighter place since Peter Schiffer painted our formerly drab kitchen cabinets white. We chose him because he does all the work himself. In one week, he degreased, sanded, primed and painted our 1960s cabinets, making them look like new. He also handled removing and reinstalling the hinges and adding the new hardware we had purchased. He is knowledgeable about restoring old houses and is a meticulous and punctual worker. I highly recommend him.

All costs are based on an estimate of the time needed to properly complete based on an hourly rate .
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In 1988 , I earned a Bachelors degree of Fine Arts, majoring in Architectural Artisanry , which covered the many jobs involved in historical restoration practices in historic structures, and focused on decorative painting . In addition I attended the reknown Finishing School in New York to study the Trompe L'oeil practice ( translates to " Fool the eye " ) - which involves painting sufaces to look like actual wood , marble , and other materials, as well as mural realism .
How did you get started doing this type of work?
It's funny, I attended college for four years, but the class I had on ONE day decided what I was going to pursue. A visiting preservationist demonstrated how to make realistic Mahogany effect using layers of paint and specialized tools. The transformation is so accurate, many can't tell it is not actual wood. I was hooked.
