About
All ages and levels of experience are welcome!
I am a singer, songwriter, and I have a Bachelor of Music from Syracuse University, with a concentration in voice and composition.
I teach private lessons out of my home studio in Sudbury, located 35 minutes west of Boston, 30 minutes east of Worcester. It is within easy driving distance of Wayland, Weston, Lincoln, Concord, Acton, Maynard, Stow, Hudson, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, Marlborough, Westborough and Southborough. Lessons are also available via Skype.
I am an advanced-level singing instructor from the Institute for Vocal Advancement, completing numerous hours of continuing education, observation and testing annually to achieve and maintain this qualification. I am also a Level III instructor in Somatic Voicework The LoVetri Method. These two methods are complementary and are based on functional voice training. Additionally, I am a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and regularly attend various vocal continuing education workshops and seminars around the world.
My goal is to train voices to sing in a free and natural manner, smoothly, from the bottom of the range to the top with no breaks or sudden changes in quality. Training in this way gives the singer access to all dynamics, with tonal clarity and flexibility. Improve your range, endurance, stamina, breath control, resonance, vocal strength and vocal quality across all styles of music without fatigue or damage to the voice. This can be accomplished by learning to find a balance between airflow and intrinsic muscular resistance, all within a resting laryngeal posture.
My students include singers of musical theater, pop, country, R&B, jazz, rock, classical and original material -- from absolute beginners to working and touring professionals.
In 2017, two of my students were National YOUNGARTS Foundation scholarship winners in the Voice-Singer/Songwriter category and were selected out of a pool of thousands of applicants from across the country. In addition, one was recognized as a semi-finalist for the prestigious Presidential Scholar of the Arts.
My students have appeared on Broadway, and in lead and supporting roles in musical theater productions at the local, regional and national touring level. I have students signed with major record labels, publishing companies and production deals, and students have appeared in major motion pictures, on national television and in commercials. Students have been accepted to top performing arts schools such as Berklee College of Music, NYU/Tisch School of the Arts, American Musical and Dramatic Academy (NYC), College-Conservatory of Music - University of Cincinnati, Point Park University, Ithaca College and Belmont University in Nashville.
In 2018, one of my students was nominated for Country Music Artist of the Year at the Boston Music Awards and won the Grand Finale Prize of the Young Performers Series in Boston, MA.
Since I specialize in functional vocal technique, rather than style coaching alone, singers of all styles of music benefit from this type of instruction. Lessons are tailored to your individual voice, with an assessment and personalized lesson goal.
Most of all, I try to keep it fun! We work hard and share a love of music. <3
"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires."

Just had my first vocal lesson and I can't say enough good things! I could feel the difference after the first 5 minutes and we had a great time. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Also very quick to respond to my messages.

Sharon has been giving voice lessons to my 12-year old son this year, and she is wonderful! (He is an aspiring musical theater performer.) She is a talented singer and teacher, and my son is both learning a lot and enjoying himself. We look forward to continued lessons with her.

Sharon inspires greatness! With each lesson, the student develops more confidence, more awareness, more understanding and the potential to move from ordinary to beyond amazing. How truly blessed my daughter has been to have such a dedicated, passionate and talented teacher. Sharon is a gift!!

Mrs. Erman is an outstanding singer, songwriter and pianist. I have learned so much from her and have definitely noticed a difference in the way I sing since I started taking lessons with her, about a year and a half ago. She is supportive, encouraging and challenges me with difficult music to strengthen my ability. Mrs. Erman spends time working on songwriting skills with me as well. She helps me perfect my own original music and she helps me master songs from my repertoire. I couldn't have asked for a better vocal coach.

Sharon is a wonderful voice teacher. I have been taking voice lessons with her once a week for a year and my voice has really improved in that time. She really pays attention to you and your voice to decide what to work on. On top of being a great teacher, she is one of the nicest people I have met and she will go out of her way to help you. She has even come to see me perform at a school concert! If you are looking to really improve the tonality and strength of your voice, Sharon is the teacher for you!
