About
Based in Boston, I'm a patient guy with decades of technical experience. I understand that aging brains learn a teensy bit more slowly and also know they're still absolutely capable of learning. Spending time with non-techies, making them feel less flustered as well as more confident and safer, is very rewarding for me.
When you contact me, the more specific you are about the help you need, the better. Are you a Mac or a PC user? Are there particular problems you're trying to solve or specific skills you want to gain/improve?

Jeff Cadow is an 11 out of 10 = Outstanding!
I hired Jeff to teach my husband "computer basics." My husband is 81 years old and not very computer savvy. From the moment Jeff contacted me he was professional, accommodating and extremely knowledgeable. He was very flexible in setting up a convenient day and time for our first lesson. Joe's first computerlesson was wonderful. Jeff was ENORMOUSLY patient - and so gentle and encouraging with my husband. After his first session with Jeff, my husband felt there was hope for him to actually learn the computer! Jeff is a kind and professional and has the soul and heart of a "great teacher." After spending a couple of hours working with my husband at our home - it was very evident that Jeff was completely focused on "how my husband Joe learns best." Jeff went home and did a great amount of research on techniques and products that would best suit my husband's learning style. By the 2nd lesson my husband felt 100% more confident and was able to do things on the computer independently that he had never been able to do. Based on my husband's learning style and challenges - Jeff changed some simple settings on our computer that made using it so much more "user-friendly."
Jeff has the ability to break down steps and explain them in a very "easy-to-understand way. He is reliable, professional and very, very well-suited to teach computers to anyone - but in particular, seniors. Jeff Cadow's level of commitment, understanding, patience and respect for his client are rare qualities today. I HIGHLY recommend Jeff as a very qualified computer teacher. I would be most happy to give a personal recommendation via phone or email. Jeff is a "gem!"

Jeff is my son and has been my computer guy for the past 18 years, since I've been a widow (my husband worked for IBM). I live in Vermont and he is in Newton, but he is instantly willing to answer questions on the phone before he can made a visit for more complicated problems. One thing that I've always found helpful when he is teaching something new - he doesn't just show me what to do, but has me do the work on the computer (phone, e-mail, camera, tablet, etc.) while he makes very detailed notes for me to follow after he leaves. Jeff is very thorough, teaches the basics and doesn't assume that I know more than I do - is never critical and always patient.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Since I'm just starting out, I'm offering a rate that's quite low given the market and my level of technical expertise.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
An interview to learn the person's priorities, phobias, experience, level of self confidence/bewilderment/frustration, how well they can hear me, etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Computer Science degree and over 4 decades of experience in the tech industry.
