Our home has an attached cinderblock shed. It would have been a terrific garden shed/workspace except that it was HORRIBLY designed and badly lit, plus an uneven floor, a door that barely admitted a wheelbarrow, and a 30-inch drop to the concrete steps entering the basement. We requested estimates from several contractors over many years, but the key issue was cutting the cinderblocks: nobody had the skill or tools to attempt it, or else they assumed we would not think it was worth the cost. Until JFC Pros, whose response was NOT an echoing silence but an astonishing and most welcome "I think we can fit you in next week"!!! Because the shed renovation was not urgent, the crew split time between our project and another client's kitchen (obviously a much higher priority to complete). JFC Pros always kept us informed when the crew would arrive and which portion of the renovation came next, and those guys worked very, very hard for us! They had great suggestions I had hardly dared to hope would be possible, like extra windows (TOTALLY worth it!), and a beautiful new 36" door with a tiny ramp at the sill to roll wheelbarrows, garden carts, etc. in and out with ease. The 30-inch drop was enclosed by half-walls and much more elegant handrails than I had envisioned. They salvaged one portion of the original configuration to give me a work bench (at the proper height) with storage, and they arranged storage for plant pots and garden tools. They finished the job within two weeks--far sooner than my expectations--and cleaned up all the mess. No photos yet, because I'm still figuring out the ideal way to use the space and arrange my tools. (JFC even added insulation, but it's still an unheated space, so I only work there on warmer days during winter.) That hideous, dingy, ergonomic nightmare was transformed to a bright, airy, cheerful, SAFE place to create, pursue messy hobbies, and store my garden tools. I am LOVING it! I absolutely recommend JFC Pros, especially to anyone who has struggled like I did to find a contractor to tackle a dream project.

JFC positioned themselves as high-end, and charged high end prices, which is stupidly paid in advance to get a small discount. Joe is charismatic and energetic, saying things like "I have a 50 person team, so I can get this done in the timeline, no problem" and "It's gonna look great." The project was painting some concrete, drywalling a ceiling and some studs, and epoxying a floor. High end - that means project managers, on time people, respect for your property and a job well done. Not so much in this case. We brought a friend over to see the space, and he said "Wow, that floor looks awful. How is it so uneven after self leveling epoxy?" I guess a true friend doesn't try to sugarcoat anything, but it wasn't news. I am embarrassed about the floor it looks so bad, and won't be showing it off to anyone, when it should have been beautiful blue in that room I spend 12 hours a week in and my husband the same. From a distance it's semi-okay, but if you are standing on it you can see how many issues there are, roller marks, exposed primer layer, leaves, etc. In the places where they tried to fix the issues, it's even worse. We asked for and paid for an "artist" and got a big mess. Touch up painting wound up dripping paint onto the floor. There are already cracks in the drywall from inadequate taping. The electrician went explicitly against the request for where switches should be located, and was chronically late delaying the project by days at a time. They refused to work with my electrician who comes in, does the work, and leaves on time and with appropriate pricing, insisting on their own diva. Every single step of the way, there was damage to my home. See the pictures for a sampling of the issues. All this shoddy work and the project ran late. Not a little late, but over twice as long as promised. Some of the reasons made sense (child in hospital, waiting on electrical inspector, it's too cold so the floor is taking longer to cure), but most of the time, people simply didn't show up. I have never felt so unwelcome in my own space as when the team was there acting like I was the unreasonable person. The team lacked respect for their boss (Dany) as much as they lacked respect for my home. Dany and Joe were actively working to do good, but the team seemed to completely ignore them. They may have been having a rough time of it this time, but the end result was not worth what I paid for it, and the level of damage is so severe I don't ever want to let anyone into my home again, it's been so violated. If I could undo it all and start from scratch I would, but now I have to go down there and look at that sad sad floor and damaged (new) doors and try to make the best of a terrible $55k mistake. No restitution beyond an apology was offered, and even in the apology Joe kept trying to convince me it looked good. The Pros if one can say this project had any (pardon the pun): The folks in charge did try to make me happy throughout working and reworking and trying to fix some of what had been messed up or damaged, and they apologized. It was the people on their team who were so actively disrespectful of me and my property. I would not recommend this group. Life is a collection of the consequences of our actions. I am going to be living the the consequences of choosing this company for the foreseeable future. I hope the consequences of this review is that JFC Pros is motivated to enforce their team treat people's homes with a little respect and return to the service that earned them their previous 5 star reviews.

JFC Pros's reply
We are very saddened to read this review. Your words really hurt. We wish that you had shared more with us about how you were disappointed. A lot of the reasons why the project took longer than expected where for unforeseen reasons like the basement being cold (not being heated). For this reason we had to prime and apply extra coats of paint. We did a lot of work that was not in the original scope of the contract and we did not charge you for that extra work (like adding more outlets). About the floors, the epoxy that we agreed on was supposed to be just a regular garage epoxy paint. It was not supposed to be the epoxy with a design. That added an extra $4000 cost to do a design epoxy as you wanted. The floor looks like an ocean design as you requested. We did that at no extra cost to you. Also we made a group chat to facilitate conversation where we would send messages to you two or three times a week asking how things were going. We don't understand why it was never relayed to us that you were unsatisfied. We tried checking on you to make sure that you were pleased with the work, but you never opened up to us. We know there were some mistakes made, but we did everything to fix these mistakes including any issues with the floor. These pictures you posted were taken before the final work was done and all of them have been addressed and fixed. It is very deceptive and unfair to post pictures of work in progress and say that the images are indicative of the final product. We went back a few times to make sure that everything was fixed and done to your satisfaction. When we were done you even gave Danny a hug, said thank you and said see you in the next project. Now after a friend of yours went there and made comments on the floor you are no longer satisfied and are completely disappointed? I'm not sure what changed. Although we believe this review is unfair, we strive to make sure that our customers are 100% satisfied with the work that is contracted. Between our employees and subcontractors we have more than 50 people working for JFC Pros and they and their families depend on our business and take pride in their work. Also, we recently contacted you to try to come back and resolve anything that you wanted resolved but you said you don’t want us to come back in your house anymore. Unfortunately we are unable to resolve any things that you are unsatisfied with if you will not let us come back to your house. Since ,for some reason, Thumbtack doesn't appear to allow us to upload the pictures of the finished work in response to these pictures which were taken before the work was finished we have uploaded finished pictures in our Thumbtack galary and labeled them with the name of this review. The photos show a beautiful blue ocean like (premium design) apoxy floor.
