Piano Tuning

The appointment was for 10 a.m. and he was here promptly, set right to work (on a piano that was terribly out of tune with sticky keys) and did a great job. It sounds great now. Very pleased.

Charles is a very respectful, competent and knowledgeable piano technician. I am so glad I met him. This piano needed a lot of work.

Piano Tuning

I am so grateful for Charlie's help in evaluating a used piano I wanted to purchase. His pricing was very reasonable and he went above and beyond in every way. Because of his help, I felt confident purchasing the piano and will love it for many years to come. Thanks again!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Estimates within 30 miles of Westport are free. Further than that would be $30. A standard tuning is $140, but if it’s been a few years since it was last done, I may have to pull the instrument up to pitch one or two times before I can fine-tune it. It’s $40 for each time I have to do that. I will advise the customer of any other repairs needed, and give estimate(s) for those

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I find out what the piano owner is looking to do with the instrument, and advise what the minimum work needed, and what other improvements/repairs could enhance their enjoyment of the instrument

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I served a 3 year apprenticeship with an established piano technician; learning tuning, repair, regulation, reconditioning, and rebuilding.
