FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes. I am still taking yoga instruction for continuing education. I am looking forward to a program at Kripalu in Western Massachusetts in January. It's very important because things change. Science and methods that were thought to be correct just a few years ago can be disproved or made safer and it's vital to bring that to clients. I also take classes in personal training, senior training, and whatever seems to come around that is interesting.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I needed flexible options to allow me to care for my family and was always interested in fitness. I have been a runner since age 13 and became involved in weight training, boot camps and yoga over the last ten years. I feel that my nursing background makes my training methods unique. Although I value safety while working with clients, I certainly provide challenges when necessary. Yoga became important to me about four years ago. I began practicing myself and after about six months, I couldn't wait to add it to my professional repertoire. I saw how it could benefit clients in a multitude of ways.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Many types. Seniors with no exercise or yoga experience all the way to well trained triathletes. I love to show people how yoga can really transform them. The flexibility and strength gains in yoga are often subtle at first, but really show themselves after a while.
