About
I offer only a full solar service. However, this can end up being comparable to the self sourcing, subcontracted installation or DIY options due to Freedom’s unique production guarantee features and competitive pricing.
Approval for solar installation can take 2-4 months. If your home can qualify for Solar, let’s get you grandfathered into this month’s solar rate before it jumps again! The solar rate your home qualifies for is determined by many factors including what rate you are currently being charged by your electric company as well as the solar industry’s cost of materials and installation. In other words, today’s solar rate is always better than tomorrow’s!
Now is a great time to get your free solar consultation out of the way and know whether your home meets the requirements for energy cost savings with $0 out of pocket!
Important things to keep in mind:
We cannot install solar on wood, clay or interlock style metal shingles. There has to be wood decking and rafters below the roof surface.
I am unable to provide a quote or design without or before processing a short study on sun exposure for your home with your usage and current electricity rate factored in.
In order to have this done, you must:
1. Meet the roof space, orientation, and Sun
hour requirements explained below.
2. Have a recent copy of your electric bill (if not as a hard copy, this is always available on line or by calling your electric company)
3. Before qualifying for the No Cost Solar Program, you will first need a credit score above 650 and the site must not be located in a town powered by a municipality-owned electric company. If credit is a concern, don’t lose hope! there may be solutions we can explore.
SUN HOUR REQUIREMENT
Homes that do not receive enough sun because of trees and structures blocking sunlight will be disqualified.
The most productive solar panels are ones placed on the East, West, and Southern facing roofs. If you have trees near these sides of your house, this may cause problems when creating a design for a solar system on your home.
If you have dormers or skylights on the South, East or West side of your roof, this will make it difficult to fit sufficient solar panels on the sunniest parts of your roof for the required production efficiency.
MUNICIPAL UTILITY COMPANIES
The No Cost Solar Program / Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is not offered in towns that have municipal utility companies. If you live in one of these towns then you would have to chose an ownership option for solar.
ADD ONS
Presently, my role with freedom is to facilitate new solar installations. In my targeting preferences, I offer ‘modify existing solar panel system.’ This is only regarding an add on system, and is NOT to be confused with repair which is NOT in my targeting preferences.
Sometimes you still have room on your roof for more panels and for whatever reason your electric usage is not being fully covered by your current solar system. In this scenario we would recommend you getting an add on system. Please also note that the minimum system size is 11 Panels.

Nick was very helpful in explaining Sunrun's solar options. He was patient and friendly and helpful in answering all our questions. We decided that solar wasn't right for us at this time, but I would recommend talking to him about if it is right for your home. Thanks Nick.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There are several options at Sunrun. You don’t need to know whether you are leaning towards ownership or a leasing option before the consultation but if you are, let me know so we can better tailor your experience. We want to find the solution that best matches your goals both physically and financially.
Keep an open mind at the beginning. Listen to the options we present, and weigh the pros and cons of each. Don’t set your mind on one thing until you have all the information.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In the North Eastern United States, typically only 1 in 3 homes can benefit from having solar installed on them by Sunrun. First they need a roof in good condition that receives a fair amount of Sun. This roof cannot have wood, slate, or terra cotta shingles.
As an outreach representative, I specialize in pre-qualifying homeowners as good candidates for the no cost solar program that all residents are contributing to, as well as our solar panel ownership options.
After prequalifying a home, I coordinate a convenient time for the homeowner to meet with our qualifier/energy consultant and receive a free energy report to determine if and how their home can benefit from a solar installation.
The goal of this consultation is to explore and preliminarily determine which solution best aligns with the home owner’s interests. If the home owner decides they would like to move forward with one of our solutions, then we set up a site survey and turn the estimates into more exact details. If the customer is satisfied with these results then Sunrun begins the permitting process to have the project cleared by the town and utility company. When this is all set, the install usually takes less than 2 days and permission to operate is granted within a couple weeks. All in all this process can take roughly 1 - 3 months from start to finish.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Ironically, I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography. This afforded me some environmental studies, cartography courses and geographic informations systems (GIS) practical application. None of this was required for my current job although I do need to analyze satellite imagery every day in preparation for it.
I have two years of experience working with two very contrasting solar companies as a door to door canvasser. At my current company Sunrun, I have benefited from a practice where canvassers and qualifiers share an open dialogue enabling transparency and teamwork that allows the canvasser to develop a very wholesome understanding of the processes and nuances of the industry. This ultimately improves the experience of the customer and the efficiency of our process. I continually hone my skills in determining good candidates for residential solar.
I am privileged with the opportunity to facilitate the discussions required for people to change their lives for the better both financially and environmentally and in doing so improve my life as well.
