Introduction: I genuinely love to teach and am dedicated to my students. If the student wishes to really learn to play the violin from the ground up, I begin teaching them the basic motor skills of how to draw the bow and how to hold the bow. I believe that understanding how to do this properly is paramount to success as a violinist as the bow is what actually makes the violin sound.
Not only do I have extensive experience as a teacher, but I also have performance experience as the former concertmaster of the Royal Conservatory Orchestra in Canada and as concert soloist with the Charlotte Symphony. In addition to teaching, I provide my pupils with sheet music etude books that are included in my lessons fees.
It may not be what I most like, but I actually have to practice patience often when I am teaching a student a new technique. I know from experience that growth as an every facet of life is often not apparent in the short term, and consequently I do not expect my students to get a new technique right away.
