Introduction: I am passionate about what I do... and it is contagious. I have the ability of cooking and talking at the same time. I spend hours searching for new ideas, experimenting new products and recipes along driving miles to find and taste some fresh or rare ingredients. I lived on 4 different continents and I traveled to 80+ different countries. I blended all these culinary experiences in my day to day cooking. I am curious about food and my customers. I do listen to them and to their needs. I always thrive at giving them an unique food experience.

If you ever need a wedding catered or any other really nice event, and you would like a caterer that (1) is fantastic to work with - friendly, professional, reliable, flexible; (2) makes absolutely delicious and sophisticated food in generous quantities and with beautiful presentation; (3) is extremely good value for money, cheaper than all other caterers we reviewed in the same price range, and (4) is very organized and will get you a crew of extremely friendly and fun staff as well as a very professional bartender and a perfect equipment order with no omissions, then... go with Chef Bernard! He catered our wedding on August 1 and it was the best decision we made. Many people said it was the best food they'd ever eaten at a wedding, plus the staff was really friendly and a pleasure to work with. And we didn't tell our guests, but Chef Bernard is also very inexpensive! A wonderful choice, merci beaucoup Chef Bernard!

Working with Chef Bernard was an absolute pleasure. Right off the bat he was willing to work with my now-husband and me to create a menu that combined our vision with his expertise while working within our budget (for a 150 guest wedding). The menu he created was so much better than anything we could have imagined, and still to this day, almost 2 months after the wedding, when we talk to people about our wedding day, they always mention the food! Even my mom said she wished she could relive our wedding day so she could both take everything in AND eat more! That's how good it all was. Guests were even going up to Chef Bernard during the reception telling him how much they enjoyed their meal. From start to finish, Chef Bernard was extremely professional, and he really delivered. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of a chef or caterer.

Chef Bernard was terrific. He is a great teacher and chef ! I asked as a birthday present for my son that the two of them prepare a birthday meal for our family [8]. I can recommend him heartily. Sense of humor, resourceful, well prepared and , well,... graceful in the kitchen. He brought everything necessary to prepare the menu that my son and he had developed a few days before. I'm sure he could easily work with any number of sou-chefs in the kitchen ...as it was ...with in minutes of arriving in a strange kitchen he and my son were chopping, talking, and sautéing The smells coming from the kitchen brought all of us in to watch, taste and learn, too. SO INSTRUCTIVE ,ENTERTAINING AND DELICIOUS A great dinner and a great treat for all of us . THANK YOU Chef Bernard

I hired Chef Bernard for my husband's surprise 30th bday party. I was looking for appetizers/finger foods and a bartender for this cocktail party. I've never thrown such a party so he was very helpful in answering my questions about logistics, including how much wine/beer/cocktail drink supplies to buy even though drinks were not part of his job/contract. He gave me a very affordable quote with a great menu selection (7 appetizers - 2 cold, 5 warm). The food was excellent and our guests loved it too, especially my husband. His quote also included wine and beer glasses and tumblers, which I thought was so great and helpful. He found an amazing bartender to help me through the night in serving drinks but also helping with reheating and putting food out and clean up. My only critiques of the service would be that there was some miscommunication when it came to serving plates and food tents. I didn't realize I would have to provide serving plates until the food arrived; but fortunately, I had some serving plates already and was able to improvise. Also, although we discussed early on whether paper tents describing the food would be provided, they were forgotten. I wanted these food tents to help with the description of the foods since some of my guests have dietary restrictions (e.g., no pork). I was able to improvise with index cards. These are two things that could be corrected if we communicated better but both were fixable problems as described above. I would definitely hire Chef Bernard again because he is affordable, helpful and the food is great!

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a professionally trained chef and I have worked in different places in the world. I am still amazed that I can/want to learn more about food EVERY DAY! I read a lot about food and the art of entertaining. I attend food shows on a regular basis. I recently took a class about Open Hearth Cooking so I can offer Colonial Dinners to my customers who are lucky to have an hearth and/or wood oven in their house. I also volunteer to work in an Indian restaurant for a couple of days to learn more about Indian cuisine.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I offer the following services: - Weekly personal chef services: I deliver freshly cooked healtly food to your home once or twice a week depending on location. - Small and large parties from a romantic dinner for 2 to a wedding for 200 guests. - Cocktail or buffet parties at your office. - Gourmet dinner with or without wine pairing in the comfort of your home. - BBQ & Pig Roasting parties around the pool or in your backyard. - One-on-One cooking class in your kitchen.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

My goal as a Personal Chef is to emphasize the word "personal" besides providing my customers with some creative, healthy and vibrant food along with great service. I am not a catering company doing multiple jobs the same day. I do one job at at time, and whether you hire me for a romantic dinner for 2 or a party for 200, I will always be in the kitchen to make sure that you get the best service. Personal Chef means that I will craft and deliver a tantalizing menu that your guests will talk about forever. Finally, my goal is too take the stress of organizing a dinner or a party off your shoulders so you can enjoy the food and the company of your guests.
