I’ve hired pros for plenty of projects on Thumbtack, and John from Mavson Plumbing Services LLC is hands down a 10/10. Honestly, I have finally found the plumber I’m going to use for the rest of my life.

I needed my water heater temporarily removed and also wanted shut-off valves installed for my unit. That might sound simple, but my condo is in a very old 1940s building with an old-school setup and multiple shared water supply lines coming in. I had several other plumbers come look at this project before John, and I was given so much wrong information. Other plumbers couldn't even figure out where the water was coming in, and they kept telling me I had to get permission to shut off the water to the entire building just to remove my water heater.

John showed up right on time, walked in with total confidence, and immediately knew what he was looking at. Instead of just guessing, he actually tested the lines right in front of me and showed me why what the other plumbers told me wasn't true. We didn't need a building-wide shutoff to get the water heater out, and he clearly mapped out and explained what actually needs to be done to install shut-off valves in my unit to separate my water from the rest of the building.

He really listened to how I wanted everything set up. When he needed a specific part, he ran to the store, came right back with the exact piece, and got it done. You can see his skill and pride in the small details—like how neatly he capped the fittings, asked how I preferred things along the way, and tested everything in front of me so I knew it was 100% solid. He even cleaned up after himself and charged a very fair, affordable price that actually made sense.

Just an amazing guy and a true professional who goes above and beyond. If you want a plumber who actually knows his craft, hire John!

John did an outstanding job replacing my water heater. He was prompt, honest, and took the time to explain every step of the process. His pricing was fair and reasonable, especially compared to major retail plumbing companies that quoted me nearly three times the price without taking the time to educate me or explain what was needed.

During the installation, John noticed my water heater was missing an expansion tank and a vent. He gladly installed both and clearly explained why they were important for the safety, performance, and longevity of the system.

He also identified another issue that no one else had pointed out. He explained that copper pipes should not come into direct contact with certain metals because it can cause galvanic corrosion (oxidation), which was the reason my copper pipes had turned green. Rather than leaving the problem, he replaced all of the affected copper piping and made sure everything was installed correctly to prevent future issues.

What impressed me most was his attention to detail and the meticulous care he put into every aspect of the installation. He was polite, courteous, respectful of my home, and cleaned up thoroughly before leaving.

John also took the time to teach me more about my home's plumbing system, which I truly appreciated. It's rare to find someone who is not only highly skilled but also willing to educate their customers. His honesty, craftsmanship, and professionalism are second to none.

If you're looking for an honest plumber who will diagnose the problem correctly, fix it right the first time, provide expert workmanship, and charge a fair price, choose this company.
