Introduction: I am a very conscientious worker. I consistently bring energy, creativity, and positivity to tutoring. I am determined to achieve success with my students, because I know they can do it, if given the proper instruction. Also, I am an especially good tutor because I am creative and engaging, helping students discover why the material matters and how to have fun with it, instead of seeing it as drudgery. And of course, everything is more fun when you start to get good at it. I love helping people by sharing my knowledge, perspectives and experience. Most of all, I like helping people grow and achieve goals, perhaps goals they did not think were achievable. Most people do not receive enough quality mentoring or coaching in their lives, and I believe it is one of the most lasting and beneficial forms of help someone can receive.

Julia Bluher's talent for teaching exceeds exceptional. Her tutoring has brought me to a level where I have gained self confidence in solving problems independently. This includes high level calculus, statistics, discrete math, and physics. Her cheery disposition has always been welcoming and she has great patience. I am very thankful to her because she adheres to my own pace in learning. She does not rest until the material is fully learned. I would recommend her for any student because her skills in tutoring are rare to find.

I give Julia my highest praise as a tutor. I have been extremely pleased with her work in tutoring my son in beginning Spanish. Julia's upbeat personality is very engaging and she is always very encouraging. She has a nice way of providing constructive criticism and keeps him motivated by changing course when things get a little tough. Probably the biggest compliment comes from my son who routinely says that their tutoring session feels more like 30 minutes and not an hour. Not only do I recommend Julia to my family and friends (she also tutors my nephew and my neighbor), but as a child psychologist, I also recommend her to my middle and high school patients who are struggling in school. Julia has recently begun to tutor me in Russian and I have already learned so much in just a few short weeks. You can see that she thoroughly enjoys helping you and can break down the information in a way that you can understand it. Since she has been tutoring me, my grades have improved and my oral strength in the Russian language is much more solid than before. I can only speak on behalf of her language skills, but she is an awesome tutor and highly recommended!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rate depends on the subject: I charge $45/hr for subject tutoring and $55/hr for test prep. I offer discounts for virtual lessons, lessons over 1 hour, or multiple students. Pricing is negotiable.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I found that I had a knack for helping my friends in school, and was told I'd make a good teacher. I made the leap to private tutoring in my junior year of high school when my mom's coworker reached out for help with his son.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I tutor people of all ages, from elementary to adult college. I most commonly tutor math and languages, but have had students in all kinds of subjects, from economics to engineering to SAT/PSAT. I even had one job as a behavioral therapist for a 4-year-old child with autism.
