FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Whether I am painting a mural on a wall, a new tile backsplash, or a piece of furniture, I meet with the clients initially, to design it with them. In this way, between listening to the clients' needs, observing their preferences regarding color and style, sketching and providing feedback as we talk, I can paint a unique and completely custom mural, designed with their input, to fit their lifestyle.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
A dentist called me recently and said, "I need your help! I have framed diplomas and certifications hanging on the wall in my waiting room, but they look so messy and un-professional! They are always hanging crooked, the spacing between them is not even, and if anyone ever looks at them, all they see is a jumbled mix of documents! I did help her. I painted a large "rectangle" on the main wall in the waiting room, painted a parchment faux finish, painted a dark wood-look frame around it, and a calligraphy title across the top, to look like a very large diploma. I hung only the 5 diplomas and licenses, in a pleasing arrangement, in this new space. I re-framed and grouped technician's certifications together on another wall, and her "Continuing Education" certificates in 2 vertical lines, one on either side of the large "diploma". Her "Appreciation Certificate" for her work on behalf of Veterans was framed and hung just above the magazine table, where it gets noticed! Now patients are actually reading her diplomas and complimenting her on the unusual display!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for the Mural Artist's website, to get an idea of style, skill level and proficiency. Also, check their testimonials page, to see what their clients have to say about them. Price is often determined by the size of the project, the condition of the wall surface, the amount of detail desired, (whether high-end "trompe l'oeil", quick sketch illustration, or anything in-between is the desired style), and some logistical factors. If you want a "ballpark estimate" at the outset, provide as many of the details of the project as possible. Most artists will want to see the prospective project, in photos, if not in person (for artists near your locale.)
