A passion for people photography, and a genuine desire and ability to have my pictures reflect the personalities of the individual or the emotion of the moment, is my biggest strength. When I am not photographing a wedding, an engagement/maternity, or headshots, you are most likely to find me clicking random strangers for my Portrait of a Stranger project. I have no qualms about admitting that there may be far technically superior photographers but if you hire me I will assure you that you will be my most important assignment. Creating cookie-cutter snapshots of an individual I admittedly fail at. Each individual and their expectations are unique and with their own story and having the pictures reflect that is what I strive for. Working with you each step of the way to ensure that you receive exceeds your expectation will be my highest priority.
"You capture the essence of an individual" is how people have described my work. Interacting with people and collaborating with them to ensure they look exactly as they perceive themselves is what gives me the most satisfaction. Often, even when I am not photographing, I can't help observing people and visualize how they would look in a picture based on the light conditions and surroundings. It's difficult to express how I feel when someone looks at a picture of them that I have clicked and has a gleaming smile. That in itself makes my journey as a photographer completely worth it.

Hiring Vijay was the best decision we made about our vendors in a lot of ways. He was supportive, thoughtful, professional, and always on time!
We have family overseas who were unable to attend our wedding, but they have said that the photographs by Vijay were able to make them feel like they were at the event. He is accommodating and really tries his hardest to make you feel at ease on the big day. We were also really pleased that we did a 1h engagement shoot with him, as it gave us all a really good chance to get to know him and how he works. Our guests kept saying how funny Vijay was and this is another trick he uses to make sure guests are relaxed and comfortable.
There are not thousands of mindless pictures to wade through, but a carefully curated batch of photos that capture the essence of the day. We're planning a 'second' wedding overseas, and have already joked with Vijay that we'd love for him to capture that event too. We're only half joking though. He would be welcome to any event of ours at any time. He was an integral part of the success of the day and I can't imagine having a better experience.
Certainly, in my times as bridesmaid, I have not come across a photographer as professional, courteous, and witty as Vijay is. I recommend him to you without reservation

I am going to break my review up into two parts: (1) logistics/ planning/ communication and (2) photographs.
1. Vijay is an incredibly responsive photographer. There was not a moment when I had a question that went unanswered. From our first conversation to our last, Vijay was always by his phone, ready to answer anything that came to my mind. When I came to Vijay, it was about a week and a half before the proposal was set to happen. At that point, all I had was a date and location in my head – Vijay helped with the rest. We talked about the best times to take the pictures how the weather would affect those pictures, which side to stand on, suggestions for making even candid shots, look better, and anything else in between.
2. And for every good thing I could say about Vijay leading up to the photographs, the photographs themselves are twice as good. We received our photographs less than 24 hours after he took them, I am still blown away more than that, the photographs are incredible. As I’m writing this review now, my girlfriend is still looking at them, and I was just next to her doing the same. Even the pose shots look natural, and he really knows how to bring out the personality in a photo. I wish that I could put my personal phone number on here so that you could text me and I can go on more about Vijay, but, alas.
If you were thinking of hiring him, I seriously could not recommend him enough.

Vijay really is good at his craft. His description really describes his service. Up until this session I had no idea how I would look in a photo. I had no idea how to pose. He made me comfortable and tried to know me in the session. We did many poses for 1.5 hours where I changed clothing and attempted to show my best poses. He made feel so comfortable and even assured me that my photos would turn out great. I ended up getting more photos than promised with cleaned up scars and alleviated double chins. These were my biggest pain points and Vijay delivered great photos!!! I have high hopes in my matrimonial search now.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Before we go further I would request the customer to connect with me only if they are genuinely interested in exploring my services - since we get charged a significant amount of fee for even just casual inquiries. I am very keen on earning your business and doing my best to work with you - and only request the same acknowledgment and respect.

My pricing is based on a individual need basis and is customized accordingly.
The quote I provide is an estimate and will be refined based on understanding the specific needs of the request.
It is inclusive of a session fee that could vary between $75 to $125 depending on various factors such as length of the session, members involved, distance etc.
Also included are hi-res digital images provided via digital share or memory stick - the cost varies for these varies from $75 to $200 - depending on the number of edited images. I also provide the option of purchasing a individual image which usually turns out to be a more expensive but allows the customer to only pick what they like.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once I am approached for an assignment I like to connect with the customer - in person or on the phone - to get a clear understanding of the requirements and expectations.
If whatever reason I do not believe I am best suited for the job I am completely transparent about it with the customer - I believe it is the best interest for both parties since I am establishing a relation.
If we mutually agree that I am appropriate person for the job, we go ahead and set up a time-slot and location for the shoot. From that point forward till the shoot I stay very engaged addressing any queries, providing suggestions on colors, locations and any additional information that is needed.
More importantly I think this is necessary to establish a rapport with the people you are photographing - often that is the difference between a flat two dimensional image vs the personality.
Post the shoot based on customer preference I provide a viewing gallery and allow them to pick the select number of images which I then work on and provide to the customer.
My usual turnaround time is a quick preview image within 2 days and the rest within a week to 10 days.
As a bonus - if there are additional images that the customer likes I offer them free in their unedited raw form
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a self-taught photographer who took to the camera as a way to connect with my creative side many years ago. One thing led to another and my hobby became my passion and passion turned to a part-time profession that I immensely enjoy. Of course, having said that I have constantly worked and pursued learning and improving my skills as far as the genre of my choice i.e people portaiture of all kinds is concerned, through a series of workshops and online courses - but really by working with people
