Jane took care of our FIVE little fur-bearing family members while we were away for a week. She is by far the best pet-sitter we have ever had! She started with an initial meeting in our home, which was incredibly thorough. It's clear she has a real love for and understanding of dogs, and real skill handling behavioral issues with pets. It's also clear now that we've had her support that the full range of services she offers is delivered with the same gentle, insightful, and steady care that every pet owner wants for their four-legged loved ones. She also retrieved our mail and made sure the house was safe while we were away--a real bonus! Jane provides daily written updates, which were incredibly helpful (she also identified an issue with our bathroom ceiling that would have taken us a few days to notice after we came back). She even found our shy guy, Skinner, every day, even though he is very good at hiding from strangers! We returned home to a happy, snuggly, healthy menagerie that had been expertly cared for. It was such a comfort knowing we had reliable, thoughtful care while we were away. We'll definitely reach out to Jane again the next time we're out of town. Strong endorsements from both of us humans and our furry five-some!Jan 29, 2018Verified

We were desperate about our Shepherd - Lab rescue's behavior when we started working with Jane. Our friends and family were not comfortable in our house because of his fearful / aggressive behavior and intimidating barking. We were not able to walk him or go anywhere in public without worrying. We saw a change after the first week of lessons with Jane. She knew exactly what to do to get Arlo to settle and to help us work with him in a different way. Six weeks later he is comfortable with strangers and we are able to walk him almost anywhere with confidence. Jane was a life saver.Aug 2, 2014Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My dog walking fees are based on the distance from my home to yours. I do not travel more than 15 miles one way for a job. Dog training fees are based on the specific training needed and charged by the hour. A typical basic obedience course is $25/hour and we meet once a week for a training session. If you only need crate training help, please email me at rottn430 at gmail dot com or call me. I will email some information to you on how to do house/crate training. I do not charge for this service. You MUST establish a set schedule at your house in order to successfully house/crate train a dog. You will need a crate that is appropriate for the size of your dog. If you're unwilling to get a crate for this process, I am unable to help you.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? The customer should call me on the phone and we can schedule a convenient time for me to come to their home and meet the dog(s) and people. I am usually available to start the very next day.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have owned dogs for over 30 years and have trained basic obedience skills to numerous dogs of my own and for others. After retiring, I obtained veterinary assistant certification. Unfortunately, most of the vets in my area are more interested in making money than keeping up with updated treatment and vaccination protocols. They know nothing about nutrition and push expensive "prescription" foods that offer no nutritional value. I am not comfortable pushing treatments and products that I believe are bad for pets. So I choose to avoid getting a job with local vet offices.
