FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There are standard rates, but I really need to speak with potential clients in order to know the specific issues they face. For instance, in tax situations, a person who rents a home, has no dependents, and qualifies for no special tax deductions or credits, would file a 1040EZ. The time involved in preparing that tax form is considerably less than an individual who owns a home and has paid real estate taxes, and perhaps is married. That is why it's important to speak with the individual, in person or on the phone, in order to determine if there are special circumstances.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new client, I always want to schedule a telephone or in-person interview in order to get a true understanding of that individual's need. "Tax preparation" and "Bankruptcy" are very broad terms. I need to know what the individual needs in the context of those terms.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have earned degrees and gained real-world experience in the finance and legal areas. I have earned a B.S. in Accounting, a masters degree in Business Administration (MBA), and a Juris Doctor in Law. Before becoming an attorney, I worked several years as a tax and financial reporting accountant. As an attorney, I have worked in consumer law areas such as: taxation, tax controversy, bankruptcy, and financial/business planning.
