Guitar Lessons

Mr Walls has been our son’s guitar teacher for 9 months now and we are very impressed with the progress. Mr Walls does a great job of teaching the basics and finding music that works with what my son is learning and songs that he enjoys. We have had lessons both in our home and via Zoom during COVID and both work our wonderfully. I highly recommend Mr Walls to anyone learning guitar. He is a very nice gentleman with a great accent and sense of humor.

Guitar Lessons

Brendan has been a wonderful teacher, and keeps me highly motivated to continue learning with him. As a beginner, he has made lessons fun, even when its just basic repetition training. If I could give him more than 5 stars, I absolutely would.

Piano Lessons (for adults)

Mr. Walls is a student-focused instructor. He quickly assessed my skill level & needs and assigned meaningful tasks for a "quasi-beginner" . I feel highly motivated to continue instruction!

Mr. Walls is an enthusiastic and patient teacher. As a choir member at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton for the past fifteen years, I have been able to sing liturgical music, and participate with other choirs in singing more complex pieces of music, such as requiems and compositions for rites of the church and special occasions. Our choir has sung in various languages, and joined other choirs in ecumenical choir fests. Mr. Walls has studied music composition, conducting, and history, and is an accomplished musician on several instruments, including the piano, organ, and guitar. He has several years teaching experience in the U.S. and abroad. I would say Mr. Walls' expertise and talent are second to none.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

$20 for a 30-minute lesson. Will drive up to 30 minutes from Crofton to teach a lesson, applying the same hourly rate for driving. During the pandemic I have been teaching remotely on Zoom but I will come to students’ locations if unavoidable, keeping masked and social distancing.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I always welcome new students where they are, identifying their particular needs, adjusting to their best way of learning, with whatever giftedness or academic struggles they present and with whatever experience they have. I find out what they want from the lessons, and propose how we can get there.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I did the BA Music and Theology at Liverpool Hope University in 1981 and qualified as a teacher at the University of Chichester in 1991. I taught for 21 years in public and private universities, high schools, middle, elementary and Kindergarten. I have privately taught social studies and language arts, as well as music for 39 years.
