Introduction: I offer saxophone lessons in my studio in Howard County, and my home studio in the Station North Arts District in Baltimore, MD. I hold a double master's degree in saxophone performance and jazz studies, and I have completed coursework for my doctoral degree in saxophone. I enjoy working with students of all ages, and my students have gone on to win all state chairs in five states. I am well versed in the classical repertoire of the saxophone, but I am also steeped in the jazz tradition. Whether you are looking to prepare for auditions, interested in jazz improvisation, or simply want to better your skills, I can help. I pride myself on being able to teach anyone the intricacies of this wonderful instrument. When you are looking for a good saxophone teacher, you need to find someone who can help you not just get started, but someone who can take where you want to go. Do they have experience with all aspects of the instrument? Some are trained only in jazz technique, some only in classical. A great teacher knows both, and how to move effortlessly between those styles. As your playing evolves away from the beginning stage, a good saxophone teacher can take you in whatever direction you want. In addition, you need to find someone who is invested in your success. Many teachers will happily cash your checks, whether you are improving or not. A good instructor will work to keep you motivated and headed in a positive direction.
