FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly reading and attending hands on clinics or seminars to continue learning about the latest developments and methods for handling behavior challenges in dogs. The Professional Dog Training Industry is not currently (yet) regulated, but I am working towards my CPDT certification (Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers), which requires a passing grade on the exam - it is conducted much like a Microsoft Certification, in a testing center (The exam covers Learning Theory, positive and negative reinforcers, animal husbandry including nutrition, canine domestication and body language, class instruction skills, training equipment knowledge and management, business practices and ethics) . The pre-requisite before sitting for exam are 300 hands-on training hours within a 5 year time-frame, as well as a long list of reading resources.
