My piano sounds great! He did an excellent and thorough job and brought his tuner machine as well as various tools to do the job. He also educated me on my piano mechanics. I will call him back for my next tuning. I enjoyed his conversation and his background is in engineering and he does woodworking so he is fully equipped to fix hammer action or whatever.Oct 11, 2019Verified
My piano traveled from Atlanta to the DC area and sat in climate controlled storage for 3+ years! After finding a home and getting acclimated to her new environment, it needed servicing. I searched online and saw many tuners and techs. I read reviews. Then I came across a review of what sounded quite negative; on the contrary, it was quite POSITIVE, considering the dialogue posted by the unhappy and instrumentally inexperienced customer. I was in agreement with the piano tech, William Rodenberg! Therefore, I KNEW - He was my piano man! I had to call on him, as he sounded quite sane and knowledgeable! What can I say about William Rodenberg? There’s so much! It’s hard to compare with Rodenberg’s level of excellence. I always seek for a piano “technician” to work on my piano and that’s what I got. But I got a “well seasoned” technician - the BEST! Mr. Rodenberg resolved a problem/issue that other techs could not resolve and charged me QUITE REASONABLY, I might add! He considered a couple options on how to approach the problem, clearly explaining them to me while offering his suggestion, without pressure! He was patient and very punctual - actually arriving earlier than expected and handled repairs on site. He’s very responsive when contacting him using the app or email! His knowledge of the piano is simply amazing! Evidence proves, he’s the best! I HIGHLY recommend this guy, William Rodenberg, for your acoustic piano needs! Very CLASSY and well SEASONED! Thank you for your services and I look forward to your future piano maintenance services! I posted a few pictures displaying his craftiness. 5 stars for William Rodenberg - the piano man!Nov 13, 2019Verified
William was initially the first person to contact me after several weeks of hunting for a piano tuner/repairman. He quoted me a price and we were texting about a potential date for him to come by. However, in the meantime, I had my first piano lesson, and my instructor said that he could tune the piano for much less. But the piano also has two broken keys, and my instructor is unsure if he will be able to fix them or not (he will know more when he sees what the problem is). So I notified William of this information, and asked if I may contact him in a few weeks if necessary to repair the keys. His response was VERY unprofessional and clearly demonstrated that he wanted nothing more to do with me if I did not go with him for his tuning services. His exact response was: "If he wants to be a piano tuner, he needs to be able to do the repairs. I don't clean up someone else's mess." Frankly, I'm glad that I'm not hiring such a petty, jealous person who has such poor customer service skills. UPDATE: In response to Mr. Rodenberg's very misleading reply, he is making it appear as though we had a scheduled appointment, when in actuality, I had NEVER agreed upon a scheduled date/time for him to come to my home. He offered on Friday, 2/22 to come on Monday, 2/25 at either 10 or 3 and asked for my address. I was entertaining visitors from out of state the entire weekend, and never responded to him to confirm whether or not Monday was good. So when he texted me again on Sunday evening, he asked if 10:30 was good (proving that we did not yet have a scheduled appointment), and asking for my address. That is when I notified him that I was going with a less expensive tuner, and asked if I may contact him in a few weeks if necessary, if my piano still required repairs. I NEVER asked him to repair it for less money (he is making it seem as though I somehow wronged him). He completely overreacted in a very unprofessional manner, and is now twisting the truth in his response to make it appear as though I was in the wrong. I have attached screenshots of our text conversations so that the truth cannot be twisted, and he cannot blame me for his very bad attitude and poor customer service (the first text from me was on Thursday, 2/21 at 6:30 pm. I cropped out the top because my personal information was included). Clearly I did not agree on a set date/time. Also, I have no idea what he was referring to when he mentioned 9:30 in his response. I would NOT recommend William Rodenberg based on pettiness, a bad attitude, and extremely poor customer service!!!Feb 26, 2019Verified
We love Bill. Couldn’t ask for a better piano tunerMay 3, 2019Verified
William took care of my mothers piano for years. Pleasant, professional and a knowledgeable craftsman. We now have it and if he were nearby, he would be our tuner of choice.May 3, 2018
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I have a God given ear, a deep understanding of the mechanics, a lifelong love of the piano. I tuned my first piano at the age 15 trying to impress the first love of my life (she threw me overboard for a trumpet player 6 months later). I've been doing it on a recreational basis until retirement. Now I have a nice practice, meeting nice people.
- What types of customers have you worked with?I've tuned, regulated, repaired for professional musicians, hotels, schools, performance spaces. Mostly and most important, people who care about how their piano sounds.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?Don't shop for price. The best will not engage in race to the bottom. This is not like buying a box with a TV in it, tuner/technicians should be craftsmen and artists with a strong internal drive to make the piano the best it can be
