FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am obsessed with current and past trends. I love incorporating subtle hints of classic or modern trends on each bride depending on their characteristics and personal desired look. I surround myself with artists of all levels to encourage and cultivate creativity. Some of my best friends are makeup artists. I love learning from my peers and even my competition!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
After college I had some friends in cosmetology school. I thought it would be fun to learn all about hair while spending time with friends. I quickly learned how much I loved makeup and started spending more time and money at the MAC counter in my local department store. I was in awe as to what makeup was capable of and quickly I started learning all that I could about makeup technique and products. I bought every makeup book I could find. I dissected makeup looks in magazines to re-create them. Pretty soon I was being asked to do makeup for weddings and special events. I spent 5 years doing this before I went to work for MAC Cosmetics full time. This is where I feel I learned the most about my craft. Being surrounded by other makeup junkies and fellow makeup artists was like a dream. I worked for MAC Cosmetics for 5 years (of which I left multiple times to go on location in NC, PA, TN, SC, MD, VA, CA to work on various films and projects) before I decided it was time to step away from the retail aspect to focus more of my efforts on my freelance work. After all, bridal makeup and special events are what I enjoy doing the most.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most of my work now is Bridal. I spent a lot of time in makeup sales, photo shoots and even traveled for months working for films but bridal work is by far my favorite. I love being a part of my clients most important moments and memories.
