We are a non competitive school that prepares the student for performances and help them achieve the joy of learning to play the piano. We are located at two different places: Germantown and Rockville. Virtual lessons are also available. Amy Zhang is the director and has taught piano for almost 15 years to children as young as 4 to adults.
Amy enjoys spreading knowledge about music and helping others master an instrument. The deeper understanding is that through playing an instrument, you not only gain dexterity in your fingers, but you also work on developing faster nerve connections between both sides of your mind. Research has said we retain information better through music. We use our sense of sight, hearing, and touch to experience and remember information. Music shapes many higher aspects of brain function, including emotion, language, and other cognitive abilities.

My son loved Amy's teaching style and personality from the first minute! His interest in learning to play the piano only increased once he started because Amy makes it so much for for him! We had a choice of several excellent teachers through Thumbtack. I regret that we could only pick one because they all appear to be great, but Amy was the perfect choice for our son and we couldn't be happier!

We cannot say enough great things about Amy! She is an excellent piano teacher who truly connects with her students and meets them at their level. Her ability to make lessons fun, engaging, and tailored to each child has kept our 8- and 11-year-olds excited about learning and improving their piano skills for over two years.
Amy’s amazing recitals are a highlight for us as a family, providing a wonderful opportunity for the kids to showcase their progress and talents in a supportive and celebratory atmosphere. Amy is an outstanding teacher and her work ethic has been outstanding. My daughter has been learning from her for the past couple of years. She loves Amy’s classes. Amy is very passionate about teaching piano and she goes an extra mile to teach the lessons. Amy is very punctual and is flexible to adjust the class timings to fit your needs. My daughter who’s now in college took lessons from Ms Amy from when she was in elementary school through high school! The progress she made was tremendous, but I think the most vital component of each lesson was that Ms Amy made learning these challenging pieces fun for my child!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lesson Rates:
30 minutes – $30
45 minutes – $45
60 minutes – $60
Discounts & Extras:
Sibling discounts are available.
Free monthly practice sessions are offered from September through May to support continued progress.
Payment Details:
Lessons are billed on a monthly basis.
In-home lessons are available for an additional fee based on travel distance.
Accepted Payment Methods:
Cash, Zelle, Venmo, and PayPal are accepted.
Credit card payments are also available, with a $4 processing fee.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first lesson includes a complimentary 10-minute meet-and-greet to help students feel comfortable and establish a connection with the instructor.
For new students, appropriate lesson books will be recommended during the first session, carefully selected based on age and skill level.
Continuing students who already have their own materials are welcome to bring them; the instructor will review previous content and continue instruction using their existing books to ensure a smooth and personalized learning experience.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Amy holds a Music Degree from Montgomery College and brings a well-rounded background in both music education and child development. Her teaching experience includes working in group settings at The Little Gym, where she developed strong skills in engaging young learners. She also worked with other instructors to learn their teaching styles. Amy also have taught adults virtually during covid. Amy is passionate about creating fun, interactive lessons that capture the interest of all students.
