Wayman is a wonderful violin teacher. He is highly skilled and very knowledgeable. Wayman has been my daughter's violin teacher for just over a year. She took up the violin in eighth grade and is now playing with her school orchestra. Wayman has always been patient, kind, supportive and a very positive teacher. My daughter is very happy with Wayman as her violin teacher.

Violin Lessons (for adults)

If I were to imagine my ideal music teacher Wayman would be the one! We had an immediate connection and he has the patience, expertise, experience and soulfulness to allow my musical journey to evolve. My best decision in 2018 so far!

Violin Lessons (for children or teenagers)

Its been about a month since my son started taking lessons from Mr. McCoy. The first thing that comes to mind is his genuine personality. Very flexible (as feasible) with scheduling and more human about missing lessons/make-up classes than many other places I verified. He understands that life happens and is more concerned abt bending with the needs of the student and the family rather than making it just business. Abt his technical ability as a teacher, I cannot ask for more. His vast experience is very helpful in giving the child the possibilities that lie ahead of him/her if they trulyenjoy. His hirst for continuous learning is contagious. He paces the lesson based on his evaluation of how much the kid can handle. Am v.glad I chose him for my son.

Violin Lessons (for adults)

I have taken lessons with Wayman for the past two months and found the lessons to get more and more enjoyable with each lesson. Wayman is very positive in his teaching style and is very patient. He is willing and able to work at his student's pace and uses the passions of his students as a instructional strategy. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a violin instructor.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I'm an ardent and compassionate instructor who enjoys sharing the gift of music with children and adults. Music enriches the communities in which we live and expands our capacity to connect with humanity. I studied privately with Philip J. Teibel of the Buffalo Philharmonic from childhood through High School. I toured the Southeast US with the Oberlin College Choir and Orchestra in college. Since graduation, I studied with Amy Beth Horman, Violin Professor; San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College and have performed with numerous ensembles including: Soulful Symphony and the Baltimore Symphony at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and Strathmore Music Center in North Bethesda. • How did you get started doing this type of work?

A professional songwriter encouraged me to teach her daughter violin nearly 30 -years ago. Her daughter studied with me for a year then departed for LA to pursue her true passion for dancing. She was ranked among the Top 3 Contestants for "So You Think You Can Dance" during its inaugural season and is currently a professional choreographer.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with child and adult music students at various levels of development: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Ages range from 6 - 70 years.
