FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to meet at least once with each new client beforehand. I like to chat and get to know what they're looking to gain out of a session before getting to all of the boring stuff like reviewing the pricing and contracts. I want my clients to feel comfortable and truly know that they'd like me to be their photographer. I don't take this lightly and I feel it is a privilege to be able to capture peoples' most important moments.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I possess a degree in photojournalism from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. I feel that it is important to be well-rounded in all aspects of the art, not just taking pictures, but capturing light falling on my subjects and planning how to capture it on my canvas--the camera. Context is also key, and I've learned that getting to know your client before shooting makes a world of difference.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've been shooting since I was 16 years old. I remember walking outside one foggy morning, and how the single tree in my yard with bright red foliage looked against the mist. I thought--I wish I could capture this image and hang it up on my wall. And so I tried...and failed. But that got me inspired to try to capture images the way I saw them and to preserve them.
