I had an excellent experience working with PC Design/Digital Entertainment, especially with their Computer Technician, Tony. I first reached out through Thumbtack about two weeks ago because my HP Pavilion Desktop All-in-One was having serious problems and needed immediate attention.
The computer would stay on for less than 10 minutes before suddenly shutting down. The screen would go black, and then a blue command box would appear, prompting me to take action. I was worried that the desktop might be overheating, have a software glitch, be infected with a virus, or have another internal issue. Since I rely on my computer, I wanted someone knowledgeable, trustworthy, and able to make a house call.
A close friend of mine in New York City who works in IT suggested I try Thumbtack, describing it as similar to TaskRabbit. I searched for a qualified IT professional who could come to my home, and I came across PC Design/Digital Entertainment. From the beginning, Tony was patient, professional, and easy to communicate with through both the Thumbtack messaging portal and text messages.
There was some back-and-forth while I made sure I had the full $150 available for the service. Tony never pressured me or made me feel uncomfortable during that process. Once I had the funds, I immediately confirmed an appointment for Monday, August 17, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
Tony actually arrived early, around 5:30 PM, and waited patiently in his car. He politely asked whether he could come in a little earlier to get started, and I appreciated that courtesy. Once inside, he came fully prepared with the necessary equipment and tools to properly inspect and work on my HP desktop.
The diagnostic and repair process was detailed and thorough. Tony used a USB drive to run diagnostics on the computer’s memory, hard drive, storage, and other important system components to identify the root cause of the problem. I was especially relieved to learn that the fan was functioning properly and did not need to be replaced, which could have added an unnecessary expense.
Tony worked diligently on the desktop from approximately 5:45 PM until after 8:30 PM, leaving shortly before 9:00 PM. He took his time and did not rush through the work. He installed the necessary Microsoft 365 software and made sure the computer’s operating system was functioning properly. He also ensured that both my uncle’s user profile and my own account were set up with Administrator access.
By the end of the appointment, my HP Pavilion All-in-One desktop was running smoothly again and felt almost brand new. Tony restored my confidence in the computer and gave my household a real solution to an issue that had been frustrating us for quite some time.
What stood out most was Tony’s professionalism and respectful attitude. He was knowledgeable without being condescending, patient when explaining what he was doing, and focused on getting the job done correctly. It was warm and humid in the living room, so I offered him a cold bottle of water because he had been working hard for several hours. He truly earned it.
Overall, Tony exemplifies what an excellent IT repair technician should be: prepared, skilled, patient, professional, respectful, and committed to solving the customer’s problem. He did not just come to my home to do a quick repair; he took the time to identify the issue, complete a detailed diagnostic process, and make sure the computer was restored to proper working condition.
Tony also provided several business cards, which I plan to share with my neighbors in Southeast DC. I believe in supporting hardworking local entrepreneurs and small businesses, especially Black-owned businesses serving Black communities. Representation matters in the technology field, and I am proud to support a professional like Tony who is providing valuable, reliable services in the community.

Tony was very responsive and knew his stuff. He offered a next-evening, in-home appointment so I did not have to disconnect 937 weird cables and drag my computer somewhere. I did not have to worry about where my sensitive data was. He analyzed my issues and addressed them promptly. And I did not have to retrieve my computer, drag it home, and re-connect those 937 weird cables. The convenience cannot be beat!
He quoted me a price in advance and stuck to it, and did a LOT of work for LESS than his competitor's estimate-only price! I was back in business the day after I contacted him. Service and Price cannot be beat!
He's very flexible and friendly. The guy clearly loves his work.
