Listening to the customer is key and working out a plan that works for the owners and their dog(s) will result in success! I check in with my clients between lessons to see how things are going. I enjoy watching the transformation of owner and dog come together to build an incredible bond. The satisfaction of my success is when they don't need me anymore and I move on to help someone else. I am now offering Puppy, Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Scent and Rally classes at 4 Paws Spa & Training Center in Forest Hill Maryland. Sessions are 6 weeks and the cost is $210.00. Upon first meeting Clare, it was apparent she had a passion for what she does. As a new puppy owner, gone for longer than the normal work day, I needed someone to help deal with my pup's separation anxiety. Clare came in and assessed the problem, and went to work building and implementing a plan so that our baby was happy and we could enjoy her. We've only had two sessions (the 2nd sessions she brought her beautiful, patient adult dog to assist), but we can see results already. Lacy is now responsive to "go potty", and comes on command. She's also learning to "sit". Clare stressed the importance of challenging her both mentally and physically. We're utilizing those tools, and look forward to our additional sessions with Clare. *The attached pic was Lacy after her 2nd session. She rested like this most of the evening. :-)

Her knowledge of dogs and their wiring astounds me while also makes perfect sense (once explained). My fearful 8 year old has grown so much in the weeks of training she has received to date. I look forward to seeing what she is capable of as we continue with the training.

We hired Claire to help train our two Border Collies. Our main concerns were dealing with our 3 month old puppy's separation anxiety, and being able to walk our older dog in heavy traffic areas. She listens to our concerns and is patient with us and our dogs. She makes things easy to understand because of the years of experience she has. After the first session, our very hyper dogs seemed to better understand the rules around the house and we had a better knowledge of how to communicate with them.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge by the hour. I do offer 6, 8, and 16 weeks of training with payment in advance and 6 months to complete the training.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I contact the owner by phone and talk about the main issues that they dog(s) are having and what is the most important thing(s) that the owner wants to correct. I ask several questions about the dog, the current feeding habits, daily exercise, etc. Then put a plan together for that dog. We start to implement the plan on the first visit. The owner gets homework to work on until our next appointment.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been training dogs since 1985. I have put AKC conformation, obedience, tracking and rally titles on my dogs. I have put an UKC conformation title on my 12 month old Aussie and a Herding Certificate Title on sheep. I attend workshops regularly on new training methods, competition obedience, herding and listen to audio conferences. I am currently enrolled in Susan Garrett's Recallers online program. I attended the Top Dog Obedience Workshop in June 2017, will be attending one in August 2018 and attend weekly obedience classes. I am currently competing 3 Aussies in Obedience and Rally for 2017-2018.
