I am responding to the unprofessional and dishonest behavior of Tracy’s Professional Services. I requested a contractor on the thumbtack site for the painting and repair of my fence. Tracy responded to my request. Presenting herself as a contractor with experience in painting and general contracting services. I informed her that I also had other projects that needed to be completed such as drywall repair, and repair of the fascia boards on my veranda porch. So, I told her to submit an estimate for the work. Little did I know that her company was only vetted with Thumbtack for cleaning services. This became clear to me that she did not have experience in general contracting services when she showed up the next day for the job. The individuals she brought with her did not know how to approach the job, As a healthcare specializing in the treatment of psychiatry and addiction. I was able to assess that the three individuals had issues in that realm. I did not feel safe allowing them to climb a ladder. There should have been scaffolding to complete this job. I expressed it to Tracy, and she admitted that her help had problems with addiction. At that point, I cancel the two jobs explaining to Tracy my concerns. And told her they could only do the painting of the fence. Baltimore City requires that contractors accept 1/3 at the beginning of the contract, another 1/3 when it is 50% completed, and the balance when the client is satisfied with the work at the end. I gave Tracy 600.00 at the beginning of the contract. I cancel the other two jobs when I realized that Tracy and her help had no experience in working as general contractors (first dishonesty representation) by reading her reviews I found out that she only did house cleaning on the thumbtack website ( second dishonest representation), I asked her for her husband GC license with Baltimore City several times, Tracy never produced it. ( third dishonest representation) , she should not be putting herself and her husband out there for contractor services that require licensure and doing it on your website without vetting him and her as qualified to do this type of work. If her worker fell off the ladder, who work be sued? I do not understand how she even came up under my contractor’s request. I did not request a cleaning service, so I had no reason to suspect or question thumbtack. This has never happened before. To make matters worse, Tracy came back to me requesting more money, her new price for painting the fence was 1200.00m which I informed her that I had already given her 600.00mfor services she had not rendered. She said she used the 600.00 for supplies. I informed her to show me the receipt which she never did.( 4th dishonesty theft of funds ) I also told her that I had nothing to do with how a contractor spends his down payment. I did offer Tracy to complete the painting of the fence, but she refused. At this point, I am asking for my money back. I hired a real contractor from Thumbtack to complete the job. and I am very satisfied with him. Please resolve with the return of my money . pictures on the thumbtack website are also fake.
