I am a professional editor/proofreader, piano teacher, writing tutor, career counselor, and college essay and application reviewer. I have edited hundreds of college essays and personal statements and work for two international companies. I have over 7 years of experience teaching piano and have taken lessons for over 22 years. I have helped students of all ages with writing using my background as a certified ESOL teacher. I have helped many adults with resumes and cover letters as well as mock interviews using my long career in human resources. I am also a retired lawyer.
College Counseling:
I work for two college essay companies, but this would be on my own. I have helped dozens of students with brainstorming college essays and personal statements and edited over 600 essays. Many of my students have been in the medical fields, including essays for residency programs. I am a certified ESOL teacher in Maryland as well as a retired HR professional and lawyer.
Piano:
I have taught piano for the past 6 years. I have over 15 private students from ages 7 to 80. I use either a chord-based or classical method depending on the student. I have over 22 years of training and continue to take lessons. I have taught group lessons to elementary school students as well as to senior citizens. I have extreme patience. I only teach REMOTELY on Skype or Facetime.
ESOL:
I am a State certified ESOL teacher in Maryland, and I also have a TESOL certificate from Montgomery College in Maryland. I have taught over 100 adults and children. I am extremely patient.
Career Counseling:
I am a certified ESOL teacher as well as a retired Human Resources professional. I have helped many professionals from recent college graduates to seasoned professionals with updating resumes and designing cover letters. This past week, two of my students both got job interviews for the first time in several months after using new resumes and cover letters. I help to make your resume more appealing while streamlining cover letters and teaching interview skills. I will do a thorough job search and find jobs that are appropriate for your skill level. I am extremely patient.
Writing and Proofreading:
I have helped many business professionals with their writing for work. For example, I have helped to edit a shareholder letter, a travel blog, several reports for The World Bank as well as many others. I will review for usage, grammar, flow, and other improvements. I have completed over 160 jobs on another professional freelancer website.
I have taught piano at the Senior Center of Rockville for 3 years and currently teach group piano at a private school as well as teaching private students from ages 6 to 90. I have over 20 years of piano lessons. I teach out of my home on the border of Rockville and Olney.
I enjoy all types of music including classical, folk, pop, showtunes, old standards and so much more!
For children, I use the Piano Adventures series which children love. For adults just learning, I use the Alfred's adult series or the Accelerated Piano Adventures series.
As far as ESOL, I am a certified teacher in Maryland in ESOL K-12. I am also a semi-retired lawyer. I have taught group classes as well as individuals. I have infinite patience. I have taught both children and adults, and I have also helped adults with writing and speaking for work and school.
