License Type: LMT - Licensed Massage Therapist (MD)
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Initially, I ask a new client to complete an intake form covering medical history and lifestyle basics relevant to safe and effective massage therapy, which we review together to develop a treatment plan for at least the first session. In a typical general therapy session, guided by client priorities and allotted time, I offer essentially a whole body treatment combining classical Swedish massage with selected Deep Tissue work, both front and back. In this way I can at least assess and, often at least partly relieve, most muscle tension, congestion, trigger points or “knots” in all major body areas, including shoulders, arms, hands, back, hips, legs, feet, neck and, as desired, scalp, face or other special focus areas. For chronic extensive or multiple issues or conditions, I develop plans for specialized, longer and/or frequent therapy sessions.

- How did you get started doing this type of work?Since graduating from Potomac Massage Therapy Institute (PMTI) in early 2015, I have been treating clients mainly as a professional therapist in several large spas. My repeat client rates have steadily risen in my spa work, up to about 30-40%, typical for outstanding therapists in large spas. Previously, I worked as a biomedical university professor and research scientist and legal counsel, developing and commercializing pharmaceuticals and biotechnologies.
