FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing ranges from $75-$150/session depending on frequency, duration, and time of day. We use an all-inclusive package model to ensure that your child is supported with all of the tools necessary to make lasting growth in and out of sessions. When you work with us you will not only get access to an Orton-Gillingham trained tutor for 1-1 customized lessons, but you will have access to a personalized book room (value of $200), subscriptions and resources to further customize and support your child's learning, as well as weekly lesson notes provided to ensure consistent communication with parents/teachers. We also offer discounts for families who book sessions with us during the school day hours. Additionally, because we greatly appreciate and value your feedback and help in spreading the word about us, we offer 20% off your next lesson when you write us a review and another 20% off per session for every family that you refer that books a package of lessons with us.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our process begins with a free, no obligation 20 minute consultation with our Owner and Founder, Alexa. During this consultation, we will discuss your child's needs and goals for tutoring, Alexa will make recommendations for next steps, and we will determine if we are the best fit to support your child. If we are the best fit, then we will move forward with scheduling an Initial Assessment where Alexa will assess your child in the five categories of reading Phonological Awareness, Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension. The results from the assessment will provide the baseline from which Alexa will design and customize your child's learning plan for how we will work together to close your child's reading gap in the most effective and efficient way possible.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education with an endorsement in 4th and 5th grade education from University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. I also hold a Masters of Education with a focus on Literacy Instruction for grades K-12 from Loyola University Maryland. Additionally, I am a certified Reading Interventionist and am trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach. Orton-Gillingham is a structured literacy approach specifically designed to support struggling readers by explicitly teaching the connection between letters and sounds using multisensory techniques. You can think of Alexa and her team as doctors for reading! Finally, Alexa is a former elementary education teacher where she has experience teaching almost every grade K-5.
