Introduction: I love working with kids and young adults. I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics with the goal of teaching at a high school and/or grade school level. My journey in life led to becoming a Ballroom dance teacher. While my career has me work with a typical age range of 25-60, I went to school to inspire, motivate, and help grade school through high school age children. It has never been a goal of mine to simply teach a subject, whether it is math or ballroom dancing. I am dedicated to making a positive change in people's lives and showing them that they can get through anything if they are willing to do the work. I enjoy working with people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. While I may teach the same material almost daily, I have to constantly find new angles to reach the person and make them feel progress. There is no one way to learn or teach something, so I constantly pull from my experience and other's experience to further my own understanding. I have seen my students make drastic changes in their lives, because I'm passionate about the results and I believe in what I do! Everyday brings new challenges and I'm willing to adapt and change my outlook and process as needed.

I just wanted to say that Tom was absolutely excellent! My son needed help with his pre-Cal for his senior year of high school and Tom just blew it out of the park with him… I couldn’t avast for a better tutor!

At first I didn’t know if Tom was capable of doing the work because he kept procrastinating. Then he explained to me he was experiencing some problems at him but that he didn’t want to keep putting me off. He gave himself a 24 hour deadline and finished the work in that time period. His quality of service is great and he was responsive to my communication. A little expensive but worth it!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a complimentary lesson to get started. If the student or parent don’t think it’s a good fit, there is no charge. I typically meet at a library or residence.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I’ve always helped “tutor” my classmates and friends from grade school through college. A common sentiment was “why didn’t my teacher teach it like that? That makes it so much easier!” As a result, I decided to pursue a degree in Math and Education. Although I found a career in Ballroom Dance, I needed an outlet for my love of math and teaching.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with grade school, middle school, high school, and college aged students. I have tutored in subjects including, but not limited to, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, algebra, calculus, GED prep, SAT prep, PSAT prep, College Entry Level courses, etc.
