Appraisal reason
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I have a full-service personal property that is primarily serving the Baltimore-Washington and Southeastern Pennsylvania areas and with clients throughout the United States. I am an accredited member with the International Society of Appraisers and the treasurer of the NCAC (National Capital Area Chapter) of the International Society of Appraisers. In addition to fine and decorative arts, antiques, silver and related items, I also appraise general household contents. I am a qualified appraiser, and I am able to perform appraisals for federal donations and estates under the USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices) regulations. My company deals with the stuff of life. Very often, my clients ask for advice on how to part with their possessions. I am not a buyer, nor do I have a shop. I will advise, and if asked, I will broker the items that the client wishes to sell. Whether you need an insurance, divorce, estate, donation, bankruptcy, or equitable distribution appraisal, I can provide you with the proper documentation and excellent service that you will need. I also prepare inventories for clients as needed.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Antique and fine art appraisals - insurance, estate, donation. We inform our clients what they have and what it is worth so they can make informed decisions about what to do with it.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When you speak with an appraiser, find out his/her qualifications. Don't be afraid to ask about the process, what to expect when the appraiser arrives, what you can do to lessen the time (thus the fee) the appraiser will need to spend on-site and with research. Discuss your goals with the appraiser so you will be provided with the type of work product you are seeking. It is unethical for an appraiser to accept a fee based on the value of the property being appraised. An appraiser is required to give an unbiased opinion of value - so use one who is not purchasing the items from you. Most importantly is that you feel comfortable having this person in your home or place of business. Feel free to ask for references.
