Introduction: Lauren Oldham Bio Why I Coach Volleyball has been a huge part of my life ever since I can remember. I enjoy being able to share with others my love for this sport. Being able to coach/play this sport, or any sport for that matter, is truly a privilege and has the ability to teach lessons that may be useful later on in life. There's something special about a group of individuals striving to meet personal as well as team goals. Coaching Experience Right after high school graduation, I began as an assistant coach for Bishop Carroll High School, my alma mater, which is located in Ebensburg, PA. While there, I coached the junior high volleyball team to two consecutive conference championships, including an undefeated season in 2011 as well as the varsity program to the state quarterfinals in 2012. I now live in Rockville, Maryland, and coach for NVVA (Northern Virginia Volleyball Association) which is located in Sterling, VA. Through my experience with this program, I have been able to work individually with players to ensure that they are developing a strong sense of fundamentals and knowledge of the game, attend coaching clinics to gain an even stronger sense of coaching technique and have become a certified member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). Playing Experience I was introduced to the sport of volleyball in 7th grade and have been actively involved with it ever since. I played 6 years for the Bishop Carroll High School program (7th - 12th) and went on to play division III college ball at Mount Aloysius College which is located in Cresson, PA. While at MAC, I have served as the starting setter and captain for 4 years. I have also been involved in numerous outdoor and indoor leagues postgraduation to continue the opportunity to play. Honors and Accomplishments During my senior year of college, I was named Player of the Week for 2 consecutive weeks in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference as the starting setter. I was also recognized as the Most Valuable Player on the Mount Aloysius College women's volleyball team after my junior and senior seasons (2011-2012).
