Carlos is an excellent contractor. He gave my bathrooms a facelift, that I still can’t stop admiring. He is professional, punctual, and open to changes during the project work. I can’t express how satisfied I am with his work and will always hire him again

They finished the project on time with only minor cost overruns caused by materials. Unfortunately, they did a number of things wrong. 1) They installed the sewage ejector pump incorrectly which caused it to burn out and need to be replaced within the first few weeks. This required a plumbing company to come out and install a new one correctly. They aren't cheap. 2) They did not know that there is a temperature adjustment in the shower faucet handle. We had to have a plumber come out and show it to us or use only cold water in the basement shower. 3) They didn't put two screws in most of the outlet boxes so the plugs wiggle around when you try to use them. 4) The studs in the outside walls (basement) are 24 inches on center, not 18. This makes it very difficult to hang things as most heavy things are made to hang on 18 inch on center studs. 5) They framed in and drywalled in the side of the HVAC unit where the filter and electrical controls are. They put a nice big door frame and bi-fold doors on a side where there is nothing. I had to cut a hole in the wall and put an access panel (again, not cheap) so I can change out the air filter. Cosmetically, the basement looks great other than some missed spots when they painted (used an eggshell finish and you can see where the drywall mud didn't quite get covered by paint because there is no sheen there). If I had to do it again, I would hire a licensed, bonded contractor. I would probably have ended up paying more, but with all the issues I'm not 100 percent certain more problems will not crop up later costing more money.

Details: Residential • 500 - 1,000 sq. ft. • No, I will not be adding structural or weight-bearing features to my basement • Yes, I will be modifying or adding living space to my basement • Yes, my basement finishing or remodeling project will require electrical or plumbing work • No existing plans, but have a good idea of what I want
